People seem to be missing the fact that United have been performing well this season and that the previous manager was sacked due to off the field issues.
I thought they were playing better, one of the main issues he had was that Man U don't want to be playing 3 at the back. Didn't really do their homework in that case..,,

As regards the football, I would go for Harry Redknapp until the end if the season.... We all debate whether the problem is with the manager or the players and Harry would offer a different management style with less reliance on statistics and flowcharts....

At the end of the season he would then be in a perfect position to tell the board what players we need to keep and who we should let go..... Not that they would listen....

Another option, after Glasner's outburst yesterday, why dont we just swap him with Frank... Both would seem to be a much better fit at their new clubs....

COYS.

All I want is for us to go into games and be competitive with a chance of getting a result, be it and win or draw.
With the way we're playing I don't see any of that, fully expect to lose.
Having said that I really thought we'd at least beat West Ham at home, new signing boost and the crowd up for it but no.
I looked at their side and wouldn't take any of their players bar Bowen and maybe Areola and yet we somehow still couldn't win.

Let’s see. I would like to see Carrick do well as, despite how he left us, I’ve always liked him as a player and from his interviews.

However, and I will put my hand up to being guilty of this myself, all too often football fans are far too reactive to one result or a small series of results.

It’s what we do. It’s hilarious to read how brick player X Y and Z is one game, then how great they are after the next. Tel, Odo and Simons were all praised a fortnight ago, but are all apparently brick again now.

I don’t think Frank is our guy. Appointing Heitinga was odd, and you’d have to wonder whether it was a tactical way of sneaking in a caretaker. We’ll see.

Why can’t I make a comment on their performance last night?
Who said you can't make a comment?

This is a discussion board, where people can express their opinions and then other people present theirs.

I am saying, quite rightly in my opinion, that it is very premature to suggest that Carrick will get the job based on one performance.

Nuno won manager of the month in August, and was sacked 6 games later.

Honestly, Harry as a caretaker would make my day. I really think it could work, and it might be the exact thing this group could need. Football is a circus and entertainment at the end of the day, why not give it a shot? It would be fun to see how «go express yourself» football would stack up against today’s tactical snoozeball - I reckon it would do quite well.

I also fear that Heitinga might have been appointed for that reason..... He must already have gone along with Frank's take on the game with the players and so to suddenly turn against that and say it's all rubbish is not the best way to start....

Also, getting sacked after 6 months at Ajax is not exactly a glowing CV.

We are in such a mess..

Cast your mind back to last season before December. It may not have been perfect, but it was levels above what we’re seeing now, and have done for most of this season.

In patches, perhaps. That wasn’t my point, though.

I just find it remarkable that so many people seem to look back on the previous manager’s time as some sort of gilded utopia, and have forgotten the largely awful and naive football, the endless spats with fans, the embarrassingly rude and grumpy press conferences, the lack of an alternative plan….

It was dreadful, it was a continuation of the downward spiral this club has been in for many years, and the board allowed it to go on for far too long, hence the toxic mess that our home games have become. (Lest we forget, that toxicity in the stadium first developed through the course of last season).

Frank walked into a mess (let’s not kid ourselves that the EL win was anything other than papering over the cracks - and, as VDV recently told us, it was achieved by the senior players taking control). Unfortunately, it’s increasingly looking like he doesn’t have the support of enough fans, or perhaps the strength of personality, to turn things around. For me, that largely lands at the feet of the board yet again (due diligence and proper strategy was lacking, as on so many previous occasions); but it is also a reflection of a club which has turned itself into an absolute basket case.

We have been declining each year... and first time in 10ys we haven't had son or Kane covering us.

Pool have spent millions and their fans are having a meltdown cos they are 4th as opposed to 1st. They are in a transition.

Our transition is a million times worse

He won't be our manager, this is just Spurs and the usual 2 + 2 = 15 situation we get into by overly thinking things. He might get caretaker if he is sacked but he won't be our perm manager.

And these are the level of people we keep recruiting. Either great everywhere else and brick here. Or just bang average at best.

Serious qs cos I don't know. Was oderbert tearing up the pitch at Burnley??

With the run of games coming up between now and the end of February the only chance of picking up points is against Burnley. By the end of that run we will be in a relegation battle, especially if we drop points against Burnley.
We’re already in one, I said it a while ago.

We are abject and I struggle to see where a win comes from between now and the end of the season.

There are always these debates about top 6 squads and who is up there and who is better etc, my mate was at the game and sent me a message basically saying "Frank has to go but for the love of GHod I don't buy anyone wanting half this lot in a top side, we have spent a small fortune collectively and put together a squad which includes............Vicario, Kinksy, Solanke, Tel, Odobert, Porro, Gray, Xavi, Dradusin, Bissouma, Veliz, Bentancur, Sarr, Udogie, none of which anyone in the top 6 would be converting currently and that don't include loans of which 50% is useful"

TBH bar maybe 2, and the jury being out on some, the fact we have just had to sell Solomon and are still reliant on Ben Davies is mental.

Yes the team is better than its showing, but the bloke who comes in next has his work cut our Massively.

Looking at our current fixtures, I'm only mildly confident about winning one - Burnley - up until the March.

That's a brutal run. We need a shake up asap. TF has to go
I’m hoping (not expecting) a draw and then preying West Ham don’t make another couple of decent signings (as an aside I thought their new number 19 did well yesterday).

Alonso
Rednapp
brendan fudging rodgers :(

I don't think a Mason or up and coming coach could cut it. Has to be a more experienced head to steady the ship. Whoever it is, they have a decent defense, a potentially decent midfield but it needs building with Gallagher and Bissouma new players effectively. Neither totally up to speed yet. And somehow they have to get a tune out of our backup attack.
The good news is that no matter who we get it can’t really get any worse than what we’re being served up now. It is the very definition of a free hit.
