Football Trivia Question of the Day

Where do Woolwich Arsenal stand on all this too? I do not recognise the frequently mentioned Arsenal Football Club as a legitimate organisation.

Thames AFC has a few interesting trivial.

One, the name is Thames Association FC rather than Thames AFC.

Two, they played in West Ham Stadium (nothing to do with the Upton Park Mob)

Three, the stadium had the highest capacity in the league (ca 120k; cf. West Ham and Olympic Stadium)

Four they were a created club to fill a stadium; like Chelsea, Liverpool and New Brighton,

Yes, when the football project died a death (they only got 469 to turn-up for a Third Division South match against Luton Town in a 120,000 capacity stadium) the owners turned to speedway, stock cars, baseball and greyhound racing.

West Ham Stadium survived until 1972 when it was demolished to make way for a housing estate with roads named after speedway stars.

Never thought New Brighton would ever be mentioned on this board
