Not at all, there were people on here who said they wouldn't have him at the time. It was also fairly telling that even at the start there was very little "ohhh that could have been us" yeh there were some but not everyone was driven by the idea of it.

Wouldn’t have needed to cheat. Had the parties that bought Chelsea, Emirates Marketing Project, PSG, Saudi Sportswashing Machine bought Spurs they could have played by the rules because we are bigger clubs.

Nothing to do with knowing him, it was as much to do with people at the time not overly bothered about buying success.
Not everyone has a win at all costs mentality, some thankfully have abit of class about them

Absolutely not, this forum has been going for a long long time and there are some very good honest and consistent posters, some of whom have been clear for a long time what success, organic support and sustainability means to them, long before Roman came to the league, when he was here and after he left. So I have absolutely zero reason so suspect they were lying or being disingenuous
Not everyone is driven by jealousy of other clubs or that level of success that could be seen as it was for a long time

Not understanding this. Bale probably had his best ever season under AVB as he adapted all the tactics to get the best out of him.
What killed AVB was Levy being unwilling to buy just a couple of players with the Bale money. We bought 7 as we wouldn't pay the transfer fees and salaries so went for the quantity over quality model with the money. Typical Spurs in a Levy tenure. Groundhog day over and over.

Put Moutinhio in to the side with Bale and we finish 4th that season and Bale stays another season as well.

Not sure if Bale would have stayed into the second season but i think AVB’s ideal football would have been established at the club with Moutinho, and he wouldn’t have had to make do with the players he had. It was to his credit that he delivered us our record PL points total at the time and got the best out of Bale.
But looking back I think not signing Moutinho was classic Levy and exactly what the club is looking to rectify now. The idea that a player might be more valuable to us because of the system we are trying to create. That we haggled until the last minute and had to post something on our website explaining why we didn’t get him was completely ridiculous. We had a figure in mind based on what we considered a good deal, and didn’t factor how much more likely we would have been to have been successful on the pitch with the signing the manager wanted to make everything tick.
Similar to Jol losing Carrick and getting Zokora as a replacement. I know the argument will be that a good manager can make it work with good players and Jol did ok in that season after Carrick thanks to Berbatov, but my GHod it was frustrating to live so many seasons missing out on key players for relatively minor amounts that could have been difference makers and then seeing those managers get sacked for not delivering results.
I will always thank Levy for the stadium. And if anyone wants to argue that we needed to operate exactly in that way to be sure we could build the stadium (eg not compromising to get key deals over the line) I’d be willing to hear the argument. The retort would be that we’d be more successful and earn more money with those key players - and GHod knows we’ve probably paid enough off to sack coaches and in letting players contracts run down that over rides any savings we supposedly made on not doing these deals.

It was a joke, but ultimately our style of football was heavily relying on Bale to make something special happen, otherwise in a month of Saturday's we didnt look like scoring. The football beyond that was abysmal
AVB and Baldini agreed on the signings strategy, the issue wasnt Levy wanting 7 or the fees/wages, the issue was him being blinded by Baldini's star quality.
