It does feel like we've heard it all before though

They're all talk. The sheer incompetence, arrogance and complacency of them, allowing the squad to become so depleted, with yet another two transfer windows drifting by without the most important issues being addressed; worrying about the sodding Champions' League while we sleepwalk towards the relegation trapdoor. The very definition of hubris.

I woke up in a sweat at 4:30 this morning with a vision of them down the road winning the league (maybe even a quadruple) while we're relegated, beaten to survival by West Ham. Just hold that thought.

Absolutely they need to prove it, like I've said before the summer window was always going to be the time for that not the January one when no decent players will want to jump ship to us (and of course certainly won't if we are relegated).....

It's a world cup year. I'm sure there are players sitting on a bench somewhere would love the chance to get game time to fight for a place at the world cup. 6 month loans is all that was needed.

What is crazy to me is Lange coming out and saying that the next manager has to play more attractive football. I appreciate him actually fronting up publicly but this is just crazy to me.

You make a big thing of the fact that as a club you interviewed 30 people, against ten criteria, and Frank was the clear stand out. Then you stick by him despite disastrous form and seemingly no buy in from the players. And you wait until after the transfer window to make a change, so until 2 weeks ago you’re still pretty sure that this guy is the right guy.

And now he’s gone it’s all ‘we need to play more attractive football’ again?? What on earth was going on in that boardroom.

I suspect he is now in full self preservation mode. He knows he has fudged up in both his recommendation of manager and the (lack of) strengthening in the transfer window and is now trying to pull out soundbites that he hopes will keep him in a job come this summer.

I suspect it's more to have something to say in his next job interview in the summer: "the plan was always to...blah blah...but blah blah..."

I had not considered that possibility but it makes a lot of sense; I suspect Vinai would be fine with that!

yep, Lange doesnt control spend or the profile of the club thats been driven down for the last 5/6 years

Maybe he could have plucked someone from obscurity to help us, but not sure who that might have been

Not saying he is innocent in all this but far from first up for the blame

He has no presence and we know that in the past others have had to step in to get players I’ve the line
He may have an eye for players but the biggest part of his job is getting them in and also getting ones sold
I made a comment on Sunday to may mates that I suspect over half Sundays team won’t be here next season (loans not taken up, biss out of contract and Sarr, Dragu and Vaud sold)
But the latter part would need a disable DOF doing selling too
He may be a pasty for Enic but he hasnt shown much capability or leadership either
