De-Registering a Car in the UK for Export

Everyone who (legally) owns a car has a V5. It's about 4 or 5 boxes IIRC - should take less than a minute.

Who processes it from there - Customs at the port of exit?

As I understand it (not done it myself), the owner fills in the V5 and sends it to the DVLA (govt vehicle licensing people). They then send back another form that is proof of ownership now that it is deregistered.

Customs will want that, not sure how the export value and taxes from such are calculated though.

No cost, but not sure how long the DVLA will take. I posted the sale part of the V5 for an old company car yesterday - I'll let you know how long confirmation takes.
