Danny Rose

With Rose, I love how something I have been critical on here before about; his temperament/aggression has now become such a key feature in his game but in a positive light.

At the moment you know every game he's going to be in the opponent's RW's face, tackling strongly with discipline and having a bit of a go verbally. He is managing to keep it controlled and doesn't aim to maliciously hurt the opposing player, but wind them up to get them off their game. He is great to watch at the moment and hopefully he'll continue in this light.

Big change for him, he used to be too rash, now it is the same passion with a little better control.

He had a very good game against the Scum, the goal was complicated, Vert overcommitted, Rose mistake, Walker trying to cover, mibrick shot goes directly to attacker.
He was an open option every time we attacked (improvement under Poch, we have players open for a forward pass), quite unlucky not to get a goal or assist.

Rose now has 4 assists in the league, just 1 behind Chadli and Lamela who both have 5 assists. Our midfielders better make sure they have more assists. It will be utterly embarassing for the midfielders if a defender like Rose end up having more assists than them.

Agreed. Certainly looking like he's maturing nicely as a footballer.

Tottenham's Danny Rose to wait for next week's England squad announcement before considering Jamaica offer

Published: 12 March 2015

Danny Rose plans to wait until Roy Hodgson names his England squad next week before giving proper attention to an offer from Jamaica.

Rose qualifies for Jamaica through his grandfather and the Caribbean side are interested in recruiting the Tottenham left-back for the Copa America in Chile in June.

Standard Sport revealed on Tuesday that Rose was top of a list of English-based players the Jamaican FA are keen to speak to. Crystal Palace winger Jason Puncheon and Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom, who is on loan at West Brom, have also been identified. But Rose, 24, has a realistic chance of being selected for England for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania and the friendly in Italy on March 27 and 31 respectively — despite saying last month he believed he was down the pecking order.

Hodgson’s first-choice left-back, Everton’s Leighton Baines, is out with a thigh injury, while Kieran Gibbs and Luke Shaw have had mixed seasons with Arsenal and Manchester United respectively. Rose, meanwhile, has established himself as Spurs’s No1 choice in the Premier League.

He was called up by Hodgson at the start of the season for the matches against Switzerland and Norway but was not used in either fixture. If Rose is overlooked again, it is understood he would be willing to examine the proposal from Jamaica in more detail.

It will be strange if Rose does play for Jamaica. But frankly, don't think he will play too many games for England.

Don't know why you think that - he has been England's best left back this year. ... Baines has hardly impressed in the role, I think there are big question Marks over shaw (he is too heavy for someone so young and if he could easily pick up more injuries) and Rose is a better full back than Gibbs.

He will be in England squads and will get games - the days where left back was our strong point is gone!

Kinda shocking, (tho not really), there are few responses to this, after 6 hours in. Once was a time when a young player on a Spurs team who was progressing and had a good season and had the chance of an England call up would have generated much support. I mean, whats not to like? Fans would be lobbying for it, and hoping he gets the call. Yet one look back thru this place, and it doesn't quite mesh with that. I've seen this guy's thread on page 10 or lower this seson. (Maybe the attentions of some 'lovely well-rounded gents' have been diverted elsewhere :)). There may now follow the obligatory 'Oh yeah, didn't see that yet, hope he makes it' stuff. But still. Anyway, good luck to Danny.

Well Roy did say when talking about Kane, that its not about how well they do but if there is space in the squad from the players who done well in the last England squad.

Picking players on form isn't really the way the England setup operate.

Exactly, Rose has had a very good season, I suspect the challenge with him is how far he has come in between last season and this.

The best view of it is comparing
- Shaw last season vs. this
- Rose last season vs. this

Cant think of an English LB doing better this season, Rose should at least be in squad

I was thinking along the same lines. I reckon it's symptomatic of (a) us getting better, and (b) many of us getting sick and tired of the media circus that the England football team has become.

In the '90s and '00s, I would wonder how my ManU supporting friends would be so ambivalent to their players representing England, never mind all those foreign countries. As a Spur, I was proud that Anderton was in the England team (when fit), proud when C***bell made the step up. Hell, I was proud that we had Tainio playing for Finland! But the Mancs viewed it almost as a sufferance, an annoyance that THEIR players might get injured. The club was bigger than the country...and other fans rightly derided them for that view.

Back then, watching a Yid wearing the three lions was a brief ray of light in between the clouds of mid-table disappointment. It was proof that we had good players. Exciting players. Spurs players.

Now, we've levelled up. We expect to be challenging for the Top 4 and beyond. Who cares if Danny Rose plays for England? They'll just ruin all the good work Poch has been doing. John Terry might even sleep with his girlfriend!

Danny Rose is best English left-back, not Baines or Shaw, says Pochettino - Telegraph
Pochettino said: “I have not spoken to him about Jamaica, but so far this season he has been the best English left full-back. His performances have been great. But that is not my decision, it is Roy Hodgson’s.

“It’s our job to compare our players with other players in the same position and we believe that Danny Rose has so far been the best English left-back.

“That’s overall what we believe. We know all the stats from players in the same position. It’s our stats, together with what we see as well.

Mason, Rose, Walker, Kane and Townsend could all quite feasibly be in it. Dier could have an outside chance, but imo it's too early

I don't like him, I don't hate him.
He is our best LB and propably one of the best in the league. I hope that he will stop doing stupid mistakes and continue to contribute in our style of playing.
