Cycling thread

A good second for ben swift today, no one is going to beat Martin the guy is a beast and I adore him. Shame cav is ill again, that boy has no immune system.

So looking forward to Paris-Roubais this weekend have no idea who will win it but as one of the stages of this years tour de france is similar could give a hint as to what will happen later on in the year, if pushed I might go for Hushvold who seems to be coming back into some form.

yep

it's not just that he cheated, with others (Landis/Millar/Hamilton) I can reconcile it, I'm not excusing it but all they did was get on an equal footing to the other 99%

with this scumbag it's the way he victimised others and shamelessly denied it long after it was obvious he was guilty as hell

I fell for it for a while, I wanted to believe him and I did, id be out on my bike on weekends with that ****ing yellow wrist band on, I was such a fool, naive to think no one would be that brazen unless they were 100% innocent, he has so little respect for the sport he claims to love

cnut is the word

Been out all day what happened mate?

He is an utter ***** with no heart, so much natural talent and no heart it kills me to watch because I would love to be able to do what he does but they guy will waste his career unless he mans the fcuk up.

Good win for Gilbert today he just rode away from everyone on the last climb, I was disappointed with the Polish guy in cav's team I am not even going to attempt to spell his name but you know the one I mean. On the chase he kept looking behind I do not know if he was looking for other omega guys or the other racers to organise a chase but he should have just put his head down and tracked Gilbert.

Good race and sets it up nicely for Wednesday.

Just been out this morning nice 40 mile ride time to put my feet up ice the knee and sip on a few beers while watching liege-Bastogne-liege.

Riccardo Riccò has been accused of buying EPO and testosterone after being caught red handed with two dealers by Italian police in a car park in the Tuscan town of Livorno, according to reports in Italian media.

Ricco was banned for 12 years in 2011 after being rushed to hospital apparently following a botched blood transfusion. The controversial Italian climber had been planning to attack a series of records on well known cycling climbs such as Mont Ventoux but is now facing charges of receiving banned substances and dealing in banned substances. Doping is a crime in Italy.

According to a report on the Il Tirreno website, Ricco was caught with another local professional on Tuesday afternoon after collecting a bag containing 30 doses of drugs in the car park of an out of town McDonalds, north of Livorno. The two dealers are from Livorno, with one working in a local hospital.

The NAS, the branch of police specialising in drugs and health and safety, said in a press conference that 30 doses of drugs were seized during the operation which began in the nearby town of Lucca, with a further 100 doses and large sum of cash discovered during a search of the two dealers' homes.

Ricco won stages at the Giro d'Italia and was the best young rider in 2008 but tested positive for the blood-boosting drug CERA during that year's Tour de France. He served a two-year ban and made a comeback in 2010 but his career ended when he was rushed to hospital in 2011.

He was suspended for 12 years but continued to ride a bike, was invited to take part in several Gran Fondo events and announced his record attempts on cycling biggest climbs.

Ricco did not answer his phone when contacted by Cyclingnews.

Not in the least bit surprised the way he was going up mountains in that tour de france when he got caught even the commentators were questioning it at the time.

Doping will happen less and less because everyone is aware what sort of times cyclists should be posting these days.

Cav losing two sprints in a row after perfect lead outs to a younger rival.

Is a worry, you could say that after a month without racing he one the sprints at the start of the week because of his speed but as the race went on he lost his stamina and that top speed was not high enough and he should be good for the start of the Tour.

But I think the sprinting in road racing has improved and he will not have it all his own way like he did 2/3 years ago. Love the guy but not sure if he is committed enough to really live the life and look after his body, the amount of times he picks up virus's is unreal and it is what ruined him for last years tour after riding the Giro with a virus. Needs to take a leaf out of Wiggins's book when he won the tour and live like a monk all season.

I think I may have actually gone and lost the plot because last night I put £500 down on boasson hagen winning the points jersey in the Giro. Starts Friday in Ireland and I am going to have a nervous 4 weeks now.

Never bet drunk ](*,)

Watching the giro I think we have finally seen the next French winner of the Tour de France. Rolland has looked very impressive in parts here and if he continues to develop he is their best chance in GHod knows how long.

Nope think I will drop my stakes right down for the world cup and tour de france now till I hit my grove again.
