Can work well in a box to box/8 role too imo. But it requires a team that is otherwise functional in terms of ball progression and ball retention and doesn't expect him to provide that.
In the setup we saw yesterday I think he obviously did well. A game focused a lot on pressing and winning the ball from there. But importantly we were able to keep and progress the ball deeper as well. Being a bit negative here I think that was at least partly how poor and disjointed Villa were. But under De Zerbi over time that is a thing we'll keep improving on, it will be a focus in the transfer market too I believe. So should mean good times for Gallagher regardless of the position/role he plays.
