Just as I thought then.
Slightly concerned at Jordihno's comments. Surely not serious..heavyweight boxing and cross country skiing are two of the most exciting spectator sports.
For heavyweight boxing there is Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas -an epic contest.
For cross-country skiing there is Therese Johaug..... (and the tour de ski - but mostly Therese Johaug) Oh and did I mention Therese Johaug?
As for televised world championship chess on a TV -not unless you live in India or Norway -or run your internet through the TV, but check it out here:

Chess is a battle to the death, where you crush your opponent with your superior intellect (or in my case swear a lot having blundered away an important piece, then spend the rest of the game running away as much as is possible on a 64 square chess board, and hiding behind the pawns. If there are any left.) It is never boring or dull, or drawn out for a very very very long time.
Exciting chess facts:
World champ Magnus Carlsen can play and beat 10 people simultaneously playing all ten game in his head without seeing the board (it saves money) -to be honest he could probably do a lot more. (the record is over 30 - I can barely play one while staring at the board for lengthy periods)

or 20 people at once while looking at the board (fewer headaches -seriously, blindfold chess was banned in Russia for a while. Probably unpatriotic.)

And don't forget the famous coded yoghurt pot incident in a word title match where they had to put a board below the table to stop the players kicking each other.

Frankly, chess is almost more exciting than watching Spurs play at the moment.
So to anyone who still believes chess is boring I say fork off.......chess saying.
