It's odd because in amongst the crappy league position and the performances that have got us there, there's been a number of really good performances from quite a few of our players.

Palhinha, Gray, Udogie when fit, Romero, Van Der Ven, Tiny (Danso), Solanke now he's fitter, have all been really good.

If we are building towards a better situation then that list needs to have more forwards on it!!

I didn't miss Porro at all with Gray at right back.
Covers more ground, better urgency tracking back and just going with the flow of the play.
A joy to watch and great future ahead. Future captain material too. is his brother as good as him?

The question is what does he become? is he a DM? does he have the passing range to really excel? what top level player does anyone seem him styling himself after? in our team what is he supposed to be?

Good question.

He's already EPL starting quality on the mental and technical side of the game - reactions, spatial awareness, quick footwork and passing accuracy. It looks to me he wants to ensure he gets the basics solid first before taking more risks - which we have seen in bursts. I think its the other players whose quality are holding him back.

I see him as a lovechild of modric and mattheus - a midfield maestro and general eventually.

Too early to say.

For now start him most games and give him the ball. One of few bright spots against Saudi Sportswashing Machine. His passing over the top that released Odobert in our very few glimpses of light in the first half. His dribbling and ability in tight spaces that helped us keep and progress the ball when we were at times decent/good in the second half.

Frank playing him as a deep midfielder, but then continuing with the horseshoe buildup rather than just have someone give him the ball was imo a big mistake. Sure he'd lose it at times, but he's actually able to progress the ball - and boy do we lack that.

Build our team around him and Bergvall, and some of the other under-23s (Udogie, Tel, Odobert, Kinsky, possibly Vuskovic). Start him in his favourite position for starters.

You need to ensure you're not booked for stupid things like or taking your shirt off so that you are still free to make a tactical foul and not get sent off later in the game. I hope Tudor and the coaching staff talk to him about this and he learns from it.

Said on here as soon as the team was announced that I can’t understand Bissouma being picked. The bloke is bad news and should be training with the youngsters, well away from the first team squad.

There’s going to be a million and one things to be negative about tonight, this club is rotten top to bottom. I think im going to leave posting here for a bit as Spurs are making me miserable daily.

But I just wanted to make one positive post to say, how good was Archie Gray tonight, played with purpose, tempo and heart. For me, he’s more of an example of Captain for us than any of our supposed leadership team.

I absolutely pray he stays with us even in the championship because he’s the sort of person I want as Captain and building the team around.

Absolutely fantastic tonight, MOTM for me and one of very, very, VERY few bright lights for the future. Needs to be in the middle where he can be most effective but absolutely top class from him tonight.
