Anyone got an electric/ceramic hob?

Just had one installed in my elderly mums new kitchen and not sure if its working right?
Do the heat rings go on and off constantly while cooking, or should they stay glowing red all the time its on?

Mine normally tends to go on and off I think but, now you've got me worried its broken :frown:

Nah you're all good, they tend to be either on or off and control heat by turning on in bursts.

I have a halogen one which is electric and it goes red hot then off every so often. If you take the pan off for a few seconds then it will go red as theres nothing keeping the warmth in.
