We lost.

We lost 22 times in the league.

Did manage to win a C list competition akin to a pre season tournament.

No need to downcry it mate, it was an achievement many others had failed at before.

Ultimately the league results and the fact that the cup result was a direct result of abandoning both the league and the philosophy of play we were using in the league, is the reason he was let go.

Postecoglou goes down as the most successful manager of the modern era. He leaves a success!

Whilst I liked him, and believe he was evolving, there were too many issues for him to get on top of at this level. And our fan base wouldn’t wait 2-3 more years for him to get the basics right. Things like our press, our shape, tactics were too basic. The upshot of that is we were easy to score against and had to work twice as hard to compete.

I am glad we will go into next season doing the basics well now, and build a platform. Plus I’ll always have positive memories of Ange now too - he’ll leave a romanticised hero - a saviour even!

A shame it came to this, but I think it was inevitable. If he'd been retained there would have been ongoing speculation every time we got a bad result.

P.S. Ange got the chance to prove he can win a trophy in his second year, what's his record in the third?

Proper sources like the ones claiming he would be sacked on Monday, or the ones saying levy was stepping down or the sources that won't drop the quatari take over?
It's the Internet, there are no proper sources.

Turns out they were right. For once.

We will be back here within a year with some recycled debates for our new manager once it comes to realisation he's not the messiah :D....

Hopefully we’ll actually have enjoyed watching the football on the way.

Think there will still be a lot of backlash because of what he achieved. Even the most ardent haters were likely thinking he'd start next season too after Bilbao.

It was 50:50, so a backlash was inevitable no matter what the decision.

Love or loath the decision, can we all just agree on one thing....

..... Winning a major trophy and sacking the manager is just very Spurs!
We knew what we were signing up to....COYS

I was convinced we’d win it from the QFs onwards as I knew it would put us in such a difficult position.

I wondered if he had a chance of staying following the cup win and part of me thought he deserved the opportunity. That being said i completely understand why he has been let go and the fact that I'm not disappointed at all like I was when Poch left says that deep down i feel that the write decison has been made. It's a big call by the club and whoever they bring in they have to use the opportunity that we have been given to really back him and push on.

Also think that is a super classy statement from Ange and it seems as though he is leaving with no bad feelings over the decision. Think he's a good bloke and regardless of league form i think he is able to walk away with his head held high.

Disgraceful decision tbh. 5th first season. Our first European trophy after prioritising Europe in his 2nd.

Come on, mate, it’s not a ‘disgraceful’ decision. I can’t be bothered listing all the negative records he broke in the PL last year, but there were very many. And we finished 17th.

The EL win meant there was a decision to make - there were sensible arguments either way.

But ‘disgraceful’? No way.

Not sure if it's true or not but someone told me that there is 5 senior players that have said they will leave if Ange goes. Again not sure if this is true but Romero as good as hinted at it.

Of course the league position wasn't good enough but he also gave many the greatest night of their Tottenham supporting lives. A whole generation that had never seen glory.

Romero hinted he wanted to leave before the europa.

They're paid to do a job. They have contracts.

And I still don’t understand how we never heard mention of it until we won the final.
Do you mean by Ange? Because it was mentioned here a lot of times over the months. Why would Ange announce it beforehand? That would get into the mindset of players who were playing in the league games, and whilst we obviously did poorly Ange didn't actually want us to lose those games...
