I think he was also involved in some effort to get benefits for veterans. The details escape me but something along those lines.

I can't imagine Trump and his goons will allow any show that pulls the tinkle out of the dear leader to go on much longer.

Luckily the Democrats won't imo.

"They're not allowed to do that". What a thing for the president of a country with free speech to say. I can't understand how this is acceptable to anyone other than a small fringe.

This alone should essentially be career ending for a politician. Just that statement in itself can have a chilling effect on speech. But then also the obvious actual threat it carries.

But obviously leftists are the one's with "Trump derangement syndrome".

Republicans have a long history of pretending to want free speech in order to stop it. The shape of today's political landscape can really be traced back to Reagan's FCC abolishing the fairness doctrine because it was hurting free speech, ie. they actually had to present the truth.

The intrusion by government into the content of programming occasioned by the enforcement of [the fairness doctrine] restricts the journalistic freedom of broadcasters ... [and] actually inhibits the presentation of controversial issues of public importance to the detriment of the public and the degradation of the editorial prerogative of broadcast journalists.

Comedy Central is a cable/streaming channel, and the Government does not have any statuary control over.

Mainstream TV is Governed, and in the case of both Colbert and Kimmel Trump has threatened to pull the plug on a merger that would cost two telecommunication companies billions of dollars in profits unless they were both removed.

Seth Myers and Jimmy Fallon likely the next two to fall.

Likely Kimmel and Colbert will resurface somewhere on TV, and rightly so.

I would say luckily (wait for the kicker) the MSM is a much much smaller player than in the past, with so much other content coming fast and loose from SM and podcasts etc. So gagging/censoring people can only run so deep. However (the kicker) you only have to imagine the cosy up with his tech bros lovers for that to become a brick show for free speech as well.

This is exactly right. I was listening to something or other last year about why MSM is tacking right more and more, whitewashing (perfect word) Trumps behaviour, etc. The answer was that only older, so-called conservative folk were actually watching these stations now and so that is the market they need to aim for. This is a dying industry in every sense.
