Rafael Leao

Saw Leao about 5 years ago at AC Milan and thought 'wow what a player!'
Have only seen him since playing for Portugal during Euros and world cups and he has moments of brilliance but very few and far between. Has an abundance of natural ability but just not sure if he has the application.

IMO at 27 a player is who he is, and the potential to improve is minimal.

Sure there are examples where a player has improved but these are the exception and not the rule. At AC Milan he has played under some excellent coaches and if they haven’t managed to make him more consistent then I see little reason why it would change with us.

But saying that, he would be fun to watch for those moments of dazzling brilliance.

We likely got made to take Gedson as a condition of another client of his (Mourinho) coming. He's the mafia don of football transfers. You dance with him then you've got to keep your protection money flowing

Seriously? Imagine your Mourinho in that scenario....one of the most famous and highly respected managers of all time and your being told by your agent that you can only become Tottenham Manager if they take one of my players too? Do you really believe that would happen?

It did happen. And did you not see the distain in Mourinho's eyes every time he caught sight of Gedson?

Yes, but he doesn't need to add anything to his game re skill, strength or intelligence, what he needs is consistency and motivation.

He was consistent when Maldini was still involved in Milan (he was part of reason Leao joined), his challenges came after Maldini left, Milan has been a bit of a basket case.

His last 5 seasons have hit double figures in goals and he does provide assists. His last 2 "bad" seasons, are 9 in league, 10 total, 8 in league, 12 total.
