***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Burnlio, Sat Jan 24th, 3pm***

Romero, second game in a row where he's looking for a pass, and forgets to first trap the ball. Then shocking defending, and we give away a simple goal after total domination.

As usual our final third play lacks confidence and precision. We're promising - Odobert and Spence moments of great play - but also moments of poor passes, poor shots, not playing a cross sooner etc. Bar the fuk up for their goal we've been pretty good though. Need to nail the ball into the back of net. Every game this season has been the same story in the final third. Even the few that we've won, we've not made the most of openings in the final third.

I think we've said this over and over. We would be a different proposition if we had a balanced left and right attacking abilities.

Once again we have good players playing on their wrong feet and no real driving force down the left.

Where do we find a prime Bale or Lennon?

I thought he was fortunate with some bobbling his way off his shin etc against a poor right back, and Mccoist got excited (and subsequently some fans would join in).

If you rewatch it, it’s easy to understand.
Still better than anything Tel has done and by a margin. I was at the game btw and so I neither saw nor have I heard any of the commentary of punditry re Spence against Dortmund.

I haven't seen him show that he has any of those attributes - his dribbling in particular is very poor

You may be right. I enjoy watching Tel when he plays. He’s only 19 and has a huge potential, in my opinion, but needs to play. He’s barely played for us, but there are compilations of his Bayern days where you can more clearly see what he’s all about. Inferior league and all that, but he’s 19.

Try to look at his heat map and the actual position he’s playing on the pitch. We have territorial advantage and all of his possession is around the corner of their box.

To play a right back there is pretty jank and says a lot about us,
It says more about Tel.

HT observations

A good half spoiled by a few minutes of sloppiness, it was a bit after, but their goal all stemmed for Vicario not clearing and the ball being kicked into touch.
Danso is a beast
We cant be selling VDV to Liverpool
Why does Simons always look like he is about to cry?
If goals were double the height, we would be the PL leading scorers

Lastly, VAR, who controls this? Their early disallowed goal, the bloke is 2 yards off with the naked eye. Why did it need to be checked?
And then the foul on Edwards, yes it was a possible penalty, but it should not have needed to be looked at by VAR, as they should have checked the offside first, not after.

The game is there for the taking provided we dont fall asleep again

It's not a lack of talent that is Spence's issue. He doesn't play at full intensity and him not being a leftie is a massive disadvantage. It is as much the shapes he makes on the pitch that is the problem. A leftie would just drive things differently.

He's there playing LCB and scored for us.

The one time VDV broke in the box, Spence tried to cut inside instead of playing the overlap. Few are going to keep pace with VDV who should slide the ball for Solanke who should be primed and ready for a tap in. Not seen it yet... but its in our back pocket.

Spence looked better at LW v Dortmund than Tel ever has for us - it's not that hard a decision to understand.

We are playing a player who is twice removed from his natural position over a player who plays that position sometimes. Most of our moves are currently dying with Djed. I do 't blame him, he just isn't a LW.
