World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

Not only that, but he celebrated a penalty goal, scored in the 89th minute of a 5-1 drubbing like it was the world cup winning goal. What a clam. The funny thing was that no one went to celebrate with him initially. :D

As soon as Denmark scored that was game over

It’s a stupid rule that hasn’t changed with the times.
I like the rule. Makes for more open games I think.

When the current result means extra time and penalties a lot of teams are cautious and sit back more. When both teams are fairly happy with the current result the game is often boring. Opening round of World Cup group stages as an example.

Scrapping the away goals rule would mean more game situations like that.

It would also lead to more games going into extra time and being decided on penalties. Penalties are exciting, as is extra time. But too much of it would be bad for the game imo. We talk about the strain from European football on a squad, imagine the strain if there was a significant increase in games going to extra time.

I have never been a fan of Italy or their Lge teams, i will miss Holland though.

I was a big big Dutch fan!
But loved watching Italy for the sheer passion and fervour! (great national anthem also!) This Italian team are just poorly managed.
Loved watching England last night also bodes well for the future and had the Erik 'Masterclass' on the Ipad! :) not bad for an international night....

Really I thought we was just so limited, all we did was pass the ball backwards with no creativty and nobody who could keep onto the ball for more than 30 seconds

We had almost all of our creative players out - we had a midfield 3 of Livermore / Dier / RLC or Linguard. take the same number of creative first choices out of every team bar Germany / Spain and I think it would be the same.

Brazil were trying and couldn't get one shot to challenge us (Coutinho was offside), that's the promising side of it.

When I saw our line up last night I was a bit "meh", doesn't really matter anyway.
When I saw Brazil's line-up, I thought "we are going to get slaughtered here".
So whilst not a thrilling performance, to play out a 0-0 with such a make-shift team (where we did create a few chances) and stop Brazil creating anything meaningful themselves, was a pretty good result I felt, and good experience.
