Serge Aurier

Took a little while to settle down, thought he had a dodgy first 20 minutes. After that, he was excellent. I said in the match-thread, he's like a quicker Trippier in that he passes the ball really well and has good vision and awareness on the ball.

Really like what I saw tonight. A bit reckless with his tackles in the first half, but gradually settled and showed great skill and awareness. Strong and quick, me like. Good debut!

The two new main squad players may not play for a couple of weeks, they will need time to get up to speed.
Pochettino needs time to work with them. So I'm not expecting to see them against Dortmund.

What was that? Serge and Sanchez need a couple of weeks to settle, are you sure? Serge looks like he will be a brilliant buy for us, after one match I already rate him the best right back at the club and as for Sanchez, considering he is just 21 years old I think he has been brilliant for us

I think he was being cautious, the play where he ducked the ball and then ran ... looked very quick.

Actually, that was the bit where I thought - Walker would have got to that a second or two further ahead of the defender; even though Aurier still won the ball and used it very well.

Looked a bit slow and rusty in the first ~20 minutes and also lost possession a couple of times which was used by Dortmund.
Then looked like he is our main full-back for several years already. Was very confident with the ball: I remembered two cases - one in the 2nd part on first half when he was holding the ball with Eriksen near our corner flag for about 30 seconds and cleared the ball without loosing it to Kane (who, though, lost a header challenge), and the other one in the 2nd half when he produced a marvelous forward pass after all action and Borussia's pressing on his wing.
Surely will become better physically soon and will provide us with more options going forward.
Overall a 8/10 debut. GJ, Serj!

Needs to be a gif of that somewhere, reminded me of a Right sided Benny but much stronger and direct with the ball.

Have been a big fan of his and it seems absurd to have got him in with 25m (approx) to spare for Walker but there you go.
Agreed. Solid debut. Once he settles in his big-game experience is going to be vital for us. And I can see Trippier & KWP learning a lot from him.

Dives in to tackles too quickly without assessing the situation. Good in attacking play and capable of delivering excellent crosses. Good overall but still to learn.

I thought he was shaky. Better second half, but still far from great. Bit of that young Kyle Walker look about him. But I hope he'll settle in quickly and improve.
I think you need to take into account the player he was up against and the team. Dortmund had nearly 70% possession !
For the most part, he stood firm under severe pressure.
Has Walker ever been tested like that?
Dortmund are one of the best sides in Europe.
I thought Aurier had a very sound debut and looks like a better footballer than walker and a better defender.
