Vincent Janssen

I don't blame him. I just think that if we were trying to move him on, we would've been clear why. There was nothing to be gained from not telling him and it could've proved counterproductive.
Because if we didn't get Llorente, we would have a disgruntled player on our hands. Harsh, but business.

But we were meant to have already been listening to bids. We all know that WBA were interested, it seems unlikely that Janssen wasn't aware.

If he truly does not think he will get games and lets be very honest it looks unlikely, then there is no way he should be wasting his time getting splinters in his arse at Spurs.
Vinny needs to be playing.
Brighton were at least in the Premiership when they 'allegedly' bid for him, the next time they do, they may well be in the Championship.

Has he shown enough to suggest he's a PL player?

Personally think he will head back home.

If we were trying to move him on because we were bringing in Llorente, we would have made him aware of this.

no-one knew we were after Llorente. Biggest secret until deadline day. Had Janssen been told the info would have found its way to the press. Im guessing he was simply allowed to talk to other clubs without being informed who, if anyone directly in fact, was going to replace him. It could be that he thought Poch would use Son as an emergency Harry back up

Everyone knew that we were after Llorente on deadline day. It was widely reported that we had beaten Chelsea to his signature and that the only thing delaying it was Bony's move to Swansea being completed, by the time that the interest from WBA and others in Janssen was being talked about.

thats what i said, on deadline day everyone knew. But by then the interest from West Brom and Stoke had diminished and the only club interested on deadline day was Brighton. Janssen decided not to join a club most likely to be fighting relegation all season. Stoke and West brom made enquiries earlier in August iirc

If lamela isnt back soon and son is playing in midfield/wing then I don't think 3 strikers is too many if we want to get out the group, challenge in the PL and the cups.

I must say, if what Darren Lewis is reporting in The Mirror is true (and tbh he has mostly been spot on when reporting about Spurs in recent times, even including our interest in Janssen in the first place) it leaves a bad taste both in terms of how we try to 'bully' a player into moving from us (given how we are under focus for how we view the likes of Rose, Walker etc) and also how Poch identifies attacking targets; Janssen was definitely a Poch buy.

I guess the proof in the pudding will be whether Janssen in part of the subs bench on Saturday vs Everton...

I can understand why he decided against a relegation battle too. There was reported interest from WBA and Stoke was on deadline day but it was meant to have cooled by the evening.

I wouldn't read anything into a single selection, he's been away on international duty and only one of Llorente and Janssen can be on the bench, only the coaching team know how fit and ready they both are.

i think we will see Janssen out Barkley in when January comes round. Danny boy may even make a tidy profit from the transactions.;)

Fair enough; for me if Janssen isn't on the bench, it would make the Mirror article seem to be legit..
You may be right, but...

Lloris
Trippier
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Davies
Dier
Dembélé
Son Heung-min
Alli
Eriksen
Kane
Sánchez
Llorente
Vorm
Sissoko
Winks
Wanyama
Aurier

If they are all fit, Janssen won't be involved. Doesn't necessarily mean he's not got a future, just means there are 18 players in front of him.

Nah; imo he'd be gone in that scenario. Llorente has only just joined us and he is recovering from i think an arm break in the summer. So if he jumps ahead of Janssen already, then after that article (which didn't seem in any way like a trolling one given it's Darren Lewis) the writing could be on the wall for him. Remember Poch often makes new signings prove their worth before they 'jump the queue' as it were...

Would happily wait to be proven wrong over the next few months, but after he was left out of the CL squad altogether (and bleeping Gazziniga AND Foyth put in it) then as things stands Vinny's time is up!
