Danny Rose

I can be quite vindictive when people show a lack of integrity, so at the moment I'd prefer Poch to brutally take Rose apart in the press conference. And refuse to sell him or play him for one whole season. Probably not in the best interests of the club though...
I think Rose having issued an apology (however weak it was) means that there's a little wiggle room in how we treat him. It certainly makes his introduction back into the team a little easier.

I still believe we have to show a hard front to this though and make it clear that doing what Rose did does not get you a payrise and neither does it get you a move to another club. Getting your head down, playing some good football and acting like a consummate professional does, and if he still wants to move then we should let him (on our terms) next summer.

Hmmmmm…. Arsenal still have Giroud as well as Lacazette don’t they?.... or have I missed him being sold? They also still have both Ozil and Sanchez. They also still have Chamberlain don't they? Won't it be Perez who will be the one getting replaced with the Lacazette purchase? Arsenal have also added Kolasanic (who as I stated when we were linked) I think is a very good player and one who looks tailor made for Premier League. As things stand they are stronger.

Chelsea – I agree with. Merely replaced departing players with alternatives.... Although they still actually have Costa don't they? (which might actually be a bad thing as opposed to a good thing).

I don’t feel that Liverpool will miss Leiva. That is probably on a par with us losing Onomah. Won't they also have Sakho back?

As you say both City and United have strengthened.

We are the only top 6 club who at this stage of the window have definitely weakened via Walker being sold and not (yet!) replaced with nobody else brought in to the club. We're top of the balance sheet league however!

No but the thing is, the transfer window is not closed for 3 weeks, everyone seems to be ignoring that. We win against Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Siggy goes to Everton and we get barkley and somebody else prior to chelsea world looks a different place

Giroud been linked all over the place, mainly to Everton looks like arsenal want him gone.
Sakho A) is a liabilty B) wont play for them again after the run-in with Klopp

I think we are weaker in 1 position, However the age of the players will mean they will improve slightly in areas, we also have a few long term injured players returning. Even if one of them may be off ;)

Yep, I think this morning/afternoon is a bit of a PR exercise so that we can let the storm calm down and move on, but considering how Poch shipped Townsend out after an argument with Gardiner, you've gotta believe Rose is going to find it incredibly difficult to come back in.

At the very least we can't let it be seen that his interview leads to him being sold or a pay rise - and how thick is Rose to let that happen? He pretty much backs us into a corner giving us either the option to show that any player can kick up a fuss and leave....or severely damage their reputation in the squad.

He's an idiot, and it will never be the same for him here again. We'll move into our nice new stadium next summer, most first 11 players will get good wage rises and Rose will be sold, probably to Everton or or some other team up north, but I would be delighted and would hope it won't be to one of the Manchester clubs. After a season of being our back up LB, his chance will be gone. Brilliant if he misses out on the Euros too. What. An. Idiot.

Danny Rose's apology. Too little. Too late. And all about damage limitation.

Rose is fudged.

Personally I dont really have a problem with the content of his comments, just hte manner in which he made them has created a lot of unnecessary noise.

By the time he's fit again we'll be into the Sept to Nov busy period where we'll be playing pretty much twice per week every week so can see Poch alternating between Davies and Rose for a month or two, partly to make a point to Rose, partly to ease Rose back in post-injury and to make Rose prove that he's better than Davies (and give Davies a fair crack)

I don't see Pochettino and Levy as the forgiving types. My guess he will go. On their terms.

Frankly I think Rose overestimated his value.

£50m transfer fee. £25m in wages over 5 years. Good as he is, it's Danny fudging Rose. Surely not even United are stupid enough to spend £75m on him.

I think Levy is about right to value him at £10m over 5 years.

Adding wages to transfer fee is a bit disingenuous - if you do that you need to judge all players like that

I think he'll stay for this year and then might leave next summer for around £50m - fair enough price givne that was Walker's value

At any price? And raise everyone's wages while we're at it I presume?

Nope, I think that they'll start to inch up once the total cost for the stadium is known ie when its be completed. Til then, we have a huge sensitivity in our business plan - a 10% increase in cost creates a £80m hole

Not really. Man United will spend £15m a year on him. We are spending £2m. We are closer to his real value.

Depends how much game time he gets this season and what his form post-injury is like. He could find himself off to Hull for £10 million.

A lot of revisionism going on. We’re a different team with Rose. He might have sealed his early departure from the club, but there’s no doubt we’ll be worse of for it.

Agreed. Davies is a decent player, however Rose gives us a lot more going forward and also more than Walker did on the other side. Given he wants to move up north at some point, I'd expect it next summer which gives us the time to plan for it and get a replcaement in

.

I think the same.

And before people fudge their pants and say its because of this week it aint. I rate Rose highly, very highly but he was rewarded for his rise and has not done much more to earn another rise in 11 months.

I am not judging him on other players I am purely saying he is the same player and his contribution has been the same less 4 months of the season than we he signed the contract and the contract was as much about how he valued himself as we did because he signed it.
