Transfer speculation

teletext/ITK rumours that Swansea and Everton have finally agreed a fee for Gylfi.

£48m

Set to be confirmed today.

So £4.8m in the coffers, if the sell-on clause is correct.

I love Italian football and have watched it since the Gazza, Platt and Walker days. But Simeone is a bottom half plodder. A Connor Wickham

He has very decent goal return wherever he's played and is only 22. He's also versatile and can play as a wing forward if need be.

I don't see how you can write him off so adamantly?

If Poch wants him, I'm backing it in.

I'm just sick of random crap journeymen with a vowel at the end of their name, that a red top journalist has found on FM and linked us with because they've got no real gossip, being acclaimed the saviour of the club, when we've got the best, most exciting side we've had in 50 years.

Love football, not HR

GB you're a confirmed WUM.

How the fudge can a highly-rated, promising young attacking player (U21 and U23 Argentina international) be considered a journeyman?

Journeyman is the wrong word. But he's a Serie A Connor Wickham; he's just exotic because people haven't seen him play.

I'm starting to believe that Poch made a pact with the boys, that there would be no significant addition if they all stayed together

But could be a 25m development fee from city?

Yes that's right. A £25m development fee where Leicester could be getting far more if they were successful. For example, let's say he fulfills his promise, then a fee of £80m would not be out of the question? Leicester are bearing the risk of this transaction for a limited payback. They don't get the £25m if he doesn't fulfill the potential.

If it's strikers we're after (not that I think that's the priority), i'd look at Berardi. He's a realistic target and would arguably be a better fit to our style/formation that Janssen currently is.

Also wouldn't mind a sniff at Ryad Boubedouz as an alternative to Mahrez links. Can play anywhere across the attacking three and has been an assist machine the past few seasons! Prob well out of our price range though should Montpellier look to cash in.

I might be alone here, but it's funny how little affinity I have for Bale at this stage, even though he's only been gone for a few years. I don't dislike him at all, but I also don't enjoy watching him play or feel jealous of his new team like I do Modric or Berba. Maybe it's because we are so much better now than we used to be, but he just hasn't resonated with me the way I thought he would.

Nobody can doubt that he's enjoyed unprecedented team success since he's made that move, but I don't feel like he's risen to the personal heights that we all thought he might. For someone who had dreams of Balon D'or's, he's probably not a Top 10 player in the world or even one of the most important players on his team (could easily argue that CR7, Modric, Kroos, Marcelo, and Ramos are all above him). And people who we used to be considered better than like Neymar, Griezzmann, Sanchez, and Coutinho have all arguably surpassed him.

As unthinkable as would have been when we sold him, there's a few players in the squad I wouldn't swap him for now (Kane, Alli, Alderweireld, Eriksen maybe). Don't get me wrong, he can still get back to his best, but with all of the injuries piling up, it's starting to feel unlikely.
You're not alone. Bale was sensational and a joy to watch the last couple of seasons with us. Since he went to Madrid I don’t think he's been either. It's like his magic and mojo is gone somehow.

If we could have him back for 50 mill, I'd take him though. :D Bale back to us would be awesome, I think. Not happening, obviously, but would give us all of the qualities we look for.

...and for those that love a YouTube skills video -

I believe he had more assists and chances created than Coutinho last two seasons. Just a pointless bit of perspective. Def looks like a Mahrez style player

That touch at pace on 5m 40secs....jeez
