Looking at our team. Remember when we bought Trippier? Who would have thought he would end up as the first choice RB with an England cap. That says as much about the player, his attitude and our manager.

One could also argue that what we lose from Walker, mainly pace, we gain in Trippier. No doubt Trippier is the better ball player. In fact, if you look at the stars comparisons there is not much in it. When you also consider Trippier has played less games than Walker that says it is not as bigger loss as some might suggest.

Last season when we got tonked 5-1 away to 10 man Saudi Sportswashing Machine and lost out on second place Poch was angry, very angry and said "This will never happen again". In that game Walker was subbed after 71 mins to Chadli.

A season on and we finish our last game of the season winning away to Hull 7-1. Trippier played in that game and was not subbed.

Of course this is not just about the one player but it shows you how when Poch said it would never happen again it didn't. That's because players are buying into what we are doing and have the right attitude for it. Even at 7-1 in that game in added minutes we were still closing down Hull on the edge of their box.

Finally, Poch said you buy players to train. From that he picks the match day team. That's quite telling really and when you think about it right. No one should walk into a team. No matter who you are you need to earn it.

Walker believe he had the right to play but didn't have the desire to train for it.

We only stopped that with the Modric and Bale transfers by refusing to sell to other English clubs. Modric went to Real for less than what Chelsea were offering the year before. Levy got the reputation for getting eye watering fees out of other clubs. No one wanted to deal with us.

Now it looks like that is over. If a club can unsettle a player enough that Poch wants him gone then Levy will sell.

Good player, no question we will be weaker for his absence. However he gave us a lot of years of service, didn't make a fuss about leaving and went for a world record defender fee.

Everyone is looking for some conspiracy (fall out, fitness, whatever), I think the reality may be much more simple (usually is), he is at the prime of his career, has an opportunity to earn a lot more money for next couple of years and work under a well regarded coach (he saw how much he improved under Poch), City was willing to pay us a record fee for a player that is heavily reliant on pace in his late 20s, and we felt the club could handle his absence.

Best of luck to him, he may regret it, but financially a good move for all involved.
 
It's been telegraphed since the end of the season that Walker would be off. If money wasn't an object he'd still be with us, and Poch said this is a club decision not a Poch one exclusively. It's a pragmatic decision, with us able to reinvest and do what we do - take promising players and develop them. It's a proven model for us.

If we sign that rumoured Portuguese full back AND have £30m+ to spend on genuine attacking competition for the first team, then we'll have done well.

Im very un-emotional about this. Walker became an important part of this team. We gain a lot from what the full backs can bring to the side. Their pace, width and ability to run all game as they have a lot of work to do. Walker has always been someone who relies on his pace, both defensive and in attack. Its a quality that goes with age. he is 27, in his prime. We have lost a good player.

But we are a team. We are not built on individuals, That is why Trippier can come in, do a good job and we did not skip a bit. Is he as good as Walker. No, but he is younger and adds a different aspect to us with his crossing. 50m for walker is a good deal. If he wanted to go then we let him go.

We are not City, United, Chelsea or even the scum. They can blow us out the water with wages.

We are more like Dortmund, Porto, Ajax now. Our model is to buy players near the prime talent at a young age. See if they become stars. Then if they go we make a lot of money. Are we a selling side? well all teams have a price if the player wants to leave. Ask Man United with Ronaldo etc. Its not just us.

Seeing as we have Trippier and Kyle Waker-Peters we are fairly well covered. So lets invest that money in two very good players and move on.

We don't need the money in order to buy players; firstly there is so much money in football now that the fee is meaningless imo. People keep saying 'oh great buy this guy for this and this leaves that left over for that.' It's a load of bollox, simple. Secondly we don't even need any new players anyway.

This whole thing is simply another example of the small club mentality THFC has had for too damn long.

This Club has been selling its best players since the mid 80s. It's unacceptable and it is why since the mid 80s we have hardly won a damn thing. Time and again custodians in charge of our great Club have betrayed us the fans. Everyone trying to pin this on Walker because it suits them and it suits the Club. Truth is Poch wanted him gone and Levy was happy to oblige.

The pair of them are idiots plain and simple for selling him to a direct rival. It should not have happened and I suspect Rose would have gone in a double deal if he was fit.

I'm delighted with Levy for the magnificent upgrade to our infrastructure but very much look forward to him being gone not long after the stadium is finished. I thought we had well and truly joined the elite after last season but we haven't and the guy I debated on here sometime ago that said City aren't our rivals is correct. They probably actually aren't our rivals because we have a small club mentality that has plagued this club since the mid 80s.

The only way I view this transfer as remotely acceptable is if it has been established that KWP is the real deal and ready now.

If we go and buy someone else for RB and then get a Barkley with the rest of the cash then that is pathetic. We don't need this money, Levy can stick it up his ass.

Same bloody cycle with this club. Absolute joke.
 
Hope Wanyama and Dembele both take him out when we play City in preseason. He's just a money grabbing fluffy bunnies cuddling, so good riddance to him. If he isn't loyal then I'm happy that he fudged off.

Will miss him. Think he's been fantastic for us. But he can just take the fat load of money and jog on! We will re-invest the money and get stronger. Thanks for the service Kyle, but your man bricky now, so just feck off!

Exactly - the owner of this club and many before him view us as an Ajax or a Dortmund. To them the trophy is buying small and selling big.

This is what needs to change. People need to be in charge of our club who see us as a Real Madrid and tell people who show interest in our best players (especially our direct rivals) to fudge right off.

I know a lot of people on here are going to call me a child etc etc and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but my sole focus is on this disease that has gripped this club since the mid 80s and directly resulted in us winning hardly anything since then.

I thought the disease was gone but now I know it hasn't.

Why was Hoddle sold to Monaco? He wanted to try something different no doubt but the owner of the club who's sole aim should be OUR clubs progression should have said no your not going. Same time and time again; Waddle to Marseille, we were happy to sell gazza before the injury. Why? Absurd decision. Even Klinsmann. Why didn't Sugar say I don't care what you want you are staying. And then Levy comes on board a few years later and time and time again amazing players sold to clubs who don't share our small club mentality.

Spot on. We got here by the players buying into Poch's work ethic. If we make exceptions to that, then it will all fall apart. It is a shame that he's gone but we have a very good replacement already and the money that Poch wanted to strengthen the squad. Onward and upwards.
