Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale uncertain over Tottenham future

Gareth Bale admits he will consider his future at Tottenham if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The left-sided midfielder told BBC's Football Focus: "If we don't [qualify for the Champions League], I have to discuss what's best for myself."

More to follow.

So in other words - he is off, if we dont make top 4

Pretty predictable really.

The only surprise has been Rafa saying that he wont join the exodus.

Fanx GARUFF! Dats gud timing isunt it?

Why didn't he just say "I'm focused on the next few games and we'll see what happens"

To be fair, it's what you would expect anyway, he's got a chance at being one of the best players in the world, so he should be at a club that's challenging, but christ, have some tact before a crucial two weeks.

Not necessarily. It means that he'll needs some assurances that we're going to spend money and that the new manager can take us forwards

To be honest he is nuts, he's not good enough yet, he'll end up sitting on the bench and not getting enough game time.

You think he'd be better off staying, develping by either 'running around a bit' or actually without the foggiest who will be in charge next term, with other best players heading for the exits?

I don't. I think it's pretty brick to come out and say it now but you'd be thinking it if you were in his shoes.

I don't think so. He could be one of the top players in the world for sure. He just needs someone to be able to get it out of him on a consistent basis. Would love it to be at Spurs, but we'll have to wait and see now.

There's no point saying things like "ship him out, we only want players who want to play for us". Because let's be honest, these players aren't like you or I who absolutely love the club. And even if they were, you'd want to do what's best for you.

I hate the way modern players jump ship to get champions league, when we would be there if they all just pulled their fingers out instead of moping.

Was bound to happen this summer though if we don't get champions league, especially as we've demonstrated absolutely no ambition in the transfer market. We've gone from Bale + possibly Hazard to Junior Hoilett

Well no, i don't.

If bale said in that interview i'm staying for another year at least what kind of signal would that have sent to the other best players? They would have been far more likely to stay.

And no i wouldn't be thinking it if i was in his shoes, because i would be playing for spurs, which would already be the club of my dreams.

unfortunately for Gareth it's more important what Mr. Levy wants this summer

but yea, cue loads of people jumping on the already growing "i hate you Bale because you haven't been as good as i thought you were!!!!" band wagon - maybe he'll sit down and discuss with his people and come to the conclusion that staying here for another season at least will be of benefit to him, he's a young player who has had a ridiculous amount of fame this past year or two (whilst i was away travelling as soon as i mentioned Spurs everyone was like OMG Bale !!!) for the most part he seems quite level headed, let's not jump to stick the knife in to him just yet

We all knew that (i) where we finish this season and (ii) what happens re our new manager and (ii) how much we spend this summer would be critical in retaining our top players.

THis doesnt really change much even if the timing isnt ideal

Lets see how the table looks come SUnday evening. Arse and Saudi Sportswashing Machine have tricky games today whilst even if we play at 80% we should win tomorrow. 3rd - 6th is all to play for, even if our form recently has been brick

I would never resent bale for leaving. Its quite obvious he is a massive talent and could become a world class player. Unfortunately you don't keep players like that if your not in the champions league, im more frustrated at our lack of ambition and questionable transfer policy that has got us in our current predicament.

Where exactly wouldn't he get enough game time?

Very few clubs in the world would pay the kind of money it would take to get Gareth Bale this summer only to not give him enough game time. Very few!

Most of the big clubs are very good at developing and getting the best out of players. Most of them are better at it than we are.

That would be you in your shoes, playing for the club, not Bale's.

Bye then.

Don't need characters like this at the club, just get as much as we can from City as possible.
Yep, not sure why he's even talking about it at this point. Just fudging focus on winning on sunday and trying to achieve a top four finish.

Pre-madonna big shots like Modric and Bale can fudge off for all I care

correct. barca won't pay the money and this is a not a fabregas situation where he'd only go to one club.

as we know levy never accepts anything but absolute top dollar for our best players and with 3 years left on his contract gareth will be doing what's he told for the moment anyway

Do you not think we did well with Dos Santos and Bassong?
