Transfer speculation

A bit like Janssen, hard to show your game in a new country when you only get a game here and there. I actually think someone like Costa or Agero would be ideal. Someone with lots of experience, who can complement the younger attacking players might smart. But they probably won't fit our wage bill. A Kanoute, Sherringham, Klinsman...

Tell you someone we could have got who has done well in limited periods at Swansea is Llorente, scored goals and good hold up play but I do not think he runs as much as Poch would want.

Llorente might be available for a small fee this summer. But if not him someone of that ilk. I was surprised to see Huntlear come on in a match this week, can not remember the match as I assumed he had retired. I think he is to old for us and only mention it because that is the type of player I think we are talking about. How about the German Gomes the striker we used to be linked with quite a bit.

With defenders giving strikers more space in England compared to in Europe it might suit some players even if the pace of the game here is quicker they still get plenty of opportunities to score.

Actually they paid £32m so almost twice as much as Jansenn (according to a Chelsea fan I spoke to today)

Jansenn offers more in that role IMO. For a start he would have taken the pen

I wouldn't say that Janssen offers more, as much as he would probably have done about as well - with the bonus of a well-taken penalty, of course. ;) But maybe that's disappointing in itself - that a 32m player can only offer as much as a 17m player does.

Whatever we do, Poch has to improve how we integrate speed into the side.
Chelski's team just had more pace and legs overall from the start and on the Wembley pitch in the end that proved our achilles heel and will likely continue to if/when we play there next season.

Imagine Eriksen with more pace to aim at when he's orchestrating things

They need place to play long ball

They are a posh Leicester

Lol, come on. It's about having a variety of strings to your bow, as we ourselves have shown in that we have broadened our attacking range ourselves.

And too call them Leicester is almost trolling; Chelski at least can play possession football when they want/need:)

They definitely used their pace on the counter today, but they have done that against the better sides on more than one occasion before now.

Of course they can

They spent £120m odd in the summer but their football is style is to pack the area and hit it long to a target man a lot. Then basically chase after it

That's a crude description I know but there not a pretty footballing side, just a very functional one. They play with 6 defensive players and 2 more wide who are primarily defenders in an old school sense

Well they're not Arsenal that's for sure. Which is probably a good thing.
I liken them a bit more to some of Fergie's less flashy teams.
However, we'll see how Conte and Chelski do when they actually have regular midweek games to contend with next season

I must say i sighed when i saw Aguero's goal vs Arsenal today. So direct and based on that pace to get in behind, and we know how often Arsenal leave such spaces especially when they get overexcited when they attack. Apart from maybe Son who could Dembele or Wanyama rob their midfield and loft a ball like that to for us?
Most of our attackers would probably halt their run and then try and hold onto the ball awaiting other runners from deep.

Definitely need some direct pace for our attack next season...

But we already have a 50 goal attacking trio there and 70 goals with son. At the rate their going it will actually be almost a 100 goal group roughly which is phenomenal across all comps (Kane 30/35, son and Alli 20/25 and Erisken 15/20)

I agree the variety is nice but we have to drop/rest/sell a player to have this pace

I'm not saying we don't need it but we have to manage any changes now to suit the squad better than what we have as we can't upset the "AppleCart"

Pace is an option which we don't have in attacking areas - I think Poch realises as shown through the Njie and GKN signings. Unfortunately Njie is crap and GKN needs to go on loan for a full season similar to how Danny Rose went to Sunderland for a year. The other problem with GKN is that he wants to play as an out and out winger, which isn't really suited to our formation and takes up the space which our full backs use

i want zaha. I hope he gets him.
