American politics

Shame Trump probably doesn't care. All he wants is the celebrity exposure and the tiaras on Melanonia so that Fox etc carry glitzy images. To speak to the houses would invite ridicule of his oratory skills and the contents of his brutish stutterings.

I'm not so sure, I think that he likes the trappings and wants recognition. Evidently the offer of the state visit is because Melania desperately wants to visit the Palace. I am also not convinced that he has the self-awareness to realise that he is a poor orator.

probably but I think he knows the images on Fox, CNN & ABC etc are more likely to be the Palace and A-List meeting people/handshaking than much attention to standing in Westminster Hall so isn't that bothered by not talking to MPs and Lords.

I think I've got Trump-fatigue already. I've hit peak-Trump.

When I see the words "dishonest press", "biased media", "fake news" I can only hear them in his voice.

It's all beginning to lose its meaning... he's winning!

I know how you feel. I long for a day when he does not do or say anything stupid. It will be interesting to look back in a year or two's time at this thread and see whether what we are shocked by now has been normalised or whether his presidency settles down. I suspect that the former is more likely.

This speech was shocking, I believe it was to the military. Given the article @galeforce posted earlier, Trump decrying the media to an audience of soldiers is a little worrying. I see that Spicer has since clarified the position, it doesn't make it any better

we'll never see that list

one would hope that those in the military have their own sources

Schwarznegger was born in Austria, so he cannot run for president.
Not true. There are alternative facts to consider. Lazy. Sad!
Were you there in Austria on the day he was born?
Have you seen his birth certificate? Are you sure?
Schwarzenegger has been to America many times since he was born. Since he was born, people. And perhaps one of those was the actual day he was born.
He has been a great leader for the US Army in films. He has fought for the entire human race versus space aliens. If that doesn't qualify him as a valid POTUS, what does? Seriously. It's gonna be great. He's gonna smash it. The best. He's been governor of California. He smokes cigars whilst firing an Uzi. He has a Hummer. Nothing is more American than Uzis and Hummers. GET. HIM. IN. DRAIN. THE. SWAMP.

I think best the conversation is left in all honesty. I think there are major crossed views which is fine and I respect your views and believe it or not I am not a fan of Trump or believe what he says. I just don't believe him anymore or less than Trump or Obama or JFK or Nixon if that makes sense? I also just simply believe the media and public outcry is disproportionate to Trumps crimes, compared to others....simply put in the world we live in if there was a league table of evil he would not be in my personal top 10.

Interesting times we live in

Fair enough mate, viewpoint registered and I agree with some of it...
I actually think he is something of a 'falsehood' as Bannon and Pence are the architects and Drumph is the show pony they are riding and dumping when he outlives his use/endangers their flimflam. Having said that, I do think Drumph is an odious and hateful bastard.

President Donald Trump was confused about the dollar: Was it a strong one that’s good for the economy? Or a weak one?

So he made a call ― except not to any of the business leaders Trump brought into his administration or even to an old friend from his days in real estate. Instead, he called his national security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, according to two sources familiar with Flynn’s accounts of the incident.

Flynn has a long record in counterintelligence but not in macroeconomics. And he told Trump he didn’t know, that it wasn’t his area of expertise, that, perhaps, Trump should ask an economist instead.

Trump was not thrilled with that response
