In all seriousness think that there is an argument for smaller goals as on average they are a fair bit shorter

Now that is something I Agree with. I have on and off watched womens football over the years. The outfield players are getting very good, quite technical with some nice touches. But the Goalkeepers are all still pretty atrocious and a lot of goals are down to Keeper mistakes. A Smaller goal might help that a lot. But im sure they would resist as it might sound sexist.

Yes he was dreadful, I was beginning to think he'd lost his mind due to the jet lag but he's probably always like that.

Whilst I agree that you can't make a sport popular just by acting like it is, I also don't think showing the pinnacle of the women's game on the BBC's minor channels (for the most part) and red button service is really ramming it down peoples throats, I think the interest justified the level of effort they put into it.

When he first started out commentating he was a pain in the arse shouting and bawling like a stucked pig, he then seemed to calm down but the last year or so he has started getting hysterical gain. To be honest the women's game does not interest me and I do not have a problem with it being on TV for those who do like watching it. As I say the world has gone all PC though.

Minor sports often pay Sky to show their stuff, not the other way round. British ice hockey (Elite League) used to have a Sky show but they were paying for the "privilege".

I don't think we will sign both Berahino and N'Jie. Too similar type of player - pacey, right footed, can play both LWF and CF. I think it is either one or the other.

But Kane and Chadli are fairly similar in the same sense - strong, powerful, but not that quick. The four of them as our CF + LWF options has a really nice balance about it

I have to say I don't understand the problem with showing female sports. Today's society is so absent of good female role models that I'm surprised people aren't more behind this. I'd rather my daughter aspire to be a netball, football, cricket or other female athlete rather than trying to be Britiain's next top model, Big brother contestant, glamour model or worse Kim Kardashian. At the moment, young girls are aspiring to be male athlete's other halves/bit on the side more than actually being athletes themselves!

I think showing these sports is one of the best things that companies like Sky have done. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

One instance, this summer there was almost as much women's sports on the BBC as men's.
I like the women's golf and wish the Beeb would get it. It's more relatable to the golf I play.

From what I have seen of them, they're quite different.

Berahino is quick. But his primary attribute is his finishing.

N'jie is even quicker. And his primary attribute is his pace causing chaos and panic in opposition back lines.

I think Berahino will be our primary attacking signing, given his background in the Premier League and his well established partnership with Kane for England U21's.

N'jie will be more of a backup, initially at least. An impact sub or a replacement if either Kane or Berahino are unavailable (or rested).

N'jie is £10m plus add ons, apparently. And I reckon Berahino will eventually go for no more than £20m.

So that's £30m, really.

On the flip side, we've already earned some £15-20m more from player sales than we've spent thus far this summer. And we're still likely to sell Soldado (£10m?); Lennon (£5-8m); Adebayor (maybe for nothing, maybe for up to £5m, but at least a large chunk of wages off costs). It's also possible that we will sell Townsend (£10-15m) and / or Carroll (£5m?).

It's furthermore true to say that we are scarily short of proper striker options.

So not only can we easily afford both Berahino and N'jie (and a proper DM), we also need them both. N'jie is supposedly as good as signed. And all sorts of sources seem to be saying that it's only a matter of time before we sign Berahino too.

So I'd be very surprised now if we didn't sign both.

If you don't like women's football, don't watch it- but don't put it down because your too narrow minded (not directed at you parklane) to appreciate someone else may like it

I'm afraid the word theory is the most important word, yes But as long as we build our stadium as planned, and can be competing fairly early after it's up and running, I'm ok with it.

Also, I neglected to mention in the previous post that there is some talk about Fazio being sold. In which case, that's another £6-10m incoming.

Some Spanish sports journo on the radio just now claimed to have "contacts" at Villareal and basically just confirmed what we already know (via some bloke with a camera phone at Gatwick and a since-deleted instagram post by Lamela)... Soldado will be announced by Villareal tomorrow with a fee of "just over €15m".

The radio show was doing a round up of what various teams need before the window closes - Johnny Giles was one of the panel members (always entertaining to have an old-fashioned, pre-PC, bog-standard 4-4-2 man in the discussion... "they don't have anybody who'll go out and kick some shins!" was his best line about us... though to be fair I'm not sure he's right about that; both Lamela and Mason have some bite about them - Lamela maybe a bit too much at times).

Anyway; general consensus was that "typical of Spurs", we're three quality signings away from being "in the mix" for the top four at the end of the season. The panel think we'll bring players in, but were not convinced we'll get the quality we need.

Giles made an interesting observation. He said the best way for someone outside the Billionaire's Club to win the title was to assemble a team of good young players and keep them together with the same manager for three or four years. Even if they're not all Messi's or Ronaldo's, as a team they will become greater than the sum of their parts over time. One of the other guys asked Giles if he thought that's what Spurs were doing and he laughed... "Nobody has that kind of patience in football any more" was the gist of his answer.
