looking at them in the Efemirates cup when Arsanal spanked 6 past them i thought yes they need a central defender or two.
I think they are looking for a centre half. They also signed Rafael this week from Utd, so are in the process of strengthening the defence across the board anyway.

Lyon seem to be softening on the prospect of selling Clinton Njie to Tottenham Hotspur. From what we've been able to gather from quotes coming out of the club, the French side would be willing to do a deal but want to make it look like they've come out of it well.
The club's president Jean-Michel Aulas was quoted last week by L'Equipe as saying "Between Clinton Njie and Yassine Benzia, one of the two can leave for a good offer."
Then the Lyon president was quoted by Le Parisien as saying "When we were approached, we did not answer that the amount was not enough, but that Clinton would not leave. He has not set a price. But I read the papers and I see that Saudi Sportswashing Machine has proposed €16m or €17m for Thauvin. So if he were to leave, it would surely not be at a price below that."
He clearly is for sale, at the right price.
Wednesday's copy of Le Parisien reckons that Lyon are thinking of an exchange involving Tottenham's Fazio. The purchase of Toby Alderweireld this summer means that the loss of Fazio could be handled, but it's not perfect because Vlad Chiriches has departed.
Le Parisien say that Lyon would be minded to allow young forward Njie to join Tottenham for a fee of €12m plus Fazio. Tottenham paid around that for Fazio so the deal would value Njie at more than Aulas mentioned for Thauvin, seems a little ambitious from Lyon. However, gaps are appearing in the defence of the French club and a move sounds entirely possible if Tottenham really want it.

This has nothing to do with Levy, they've wanted rid for ages, the issue here is Adebayor, he wants guarantees that we will give him a deal after his loan, think this has been a sticking point for Fox and co, who are rightly not budging on it.

Tell you what Ade.....you guarantee you play well and i'll guarantee you get a contract.
Cannot believe the man......even the one time you could guarantee he would put in a shift (ie when he needed a new contract/club) he is looking at mitigating even having to do that.......couldn't make it up!

I've never claimed to be an ITK of any sorts, but a very good friend of mine who owns a high-end lettings agents in North London has just text telling me to lump on Berahino signing for Spurs next week. They're sorting his flat for him at the moment ;o)

It's maybe a slight exaggeration, but is quite representative of what that forum is like.
