What makes you think the club haven't tried this? If a fan on a forum can come up with this do you not think the highly paid, professional coaches and medical staff would have considered it too? Fans are grasping at straws because it is "Bobby." I like soldado the person, and heck I have even defended him. I agree he has all the technical ability but so what? So did Paulinho. Some how we made it a habit to sign technically good but mentally weak players, chiriches is in the same mould. We don't have a good record of turning these around. For me other than Capoue he has been the biggest disappointment of the 7 signings. I hope it changes but based on what we have seen so far it would appear highly unlikely.

Fans on forums also believed that our new training ground would be used to its full capacity, and all necessary professional staff would be employed by the club in pursuit of that aim. As it apparently turned out, there were very few professionals and staff around at the ground pre-Poch, because apparently hiring them would have cost too much for ickle Levy to stomach. It is eminently possible that what seems logical and obvious to us is lost on the brilliant minds higher up in the club chain, for any number of reasons.
I don't disagree with your assessment of Soldado's generally disappointing career at the club: in fact, I think he's been the most disappointing of the seven. But I still believe he can turn it around. I'm not sure why.

There seems to be a few who think this - I think this is because of his attitude, his proven ability to score goals (obviously not so much in the PL so far) and his all round technical ability.
Im not sure if he can turn it around, maybe being second fiddle to Kane and having less pressure will help. Im comfortable for him to stay as back up, but wouldn't be suicidal if he was sold either. Overall Id prefer him to stay, because he is a good player I have no doubt about that - it just hasn't worked out so far for whatever reason. Also a thoroughly likeable guy....

I cannot believe that there are those on this board that think that Soldado might turn it round at Spurs. He has proven for two seasons that he is incapable of playing centre forward for us. His finishing is absolutely woeful and he has a complete lack of ability to hold the ball up, which results in us struggling to retain possession when he is up top for us.
I think the only reason we still have him is because we cannot find another club who would take him off of us.

I think its because of his finishing prowess in the past, yes its been woeful at times here (unlucky on occasion as well) but thats a small part of his career, the goals are the same size in spain and he had no trouble there, its merely a mental block from a bad run of form, if he can get a lucky break and hit a run it will all come back, hopefully.

I actually disagree that he has a lack of ability to hold the ball up. In all the brick (and there has been alot) the one slight glimmer when he's played well has been (IMO anyway) his ability to retain possession and bring other players into the game. It suprises me, because that's obviously not what we bought him for.

Only read the last page of this thread but i'd be shocked if Soldado isn't still with us come September. If you take Soldado out of the picture then that leaves us with Kane so needing to sign another 2 strikers(ok we have Ade but if he's here, not on leave for one reason or another). I can't see us signing 2 strikers this summer, normally the most costly postiiton to sign a player for. Also the other reason i reckon he will sill be here is that he appears included in the squad as the training pictures from friday show whereas you don't see lennon/Stambouli/ Kaboul etc.. in them.
I am in the Soldado will scores goals camp, you see it with strikers down the years when they're scoring you can't stop them once they have a bad patch everything they hit doesn't seem to go in. Like a poster said above i'd be more worried if he wasn't getting into the postions for scoring.

I thought after the Everton game at WHL that if he was ever going to turn his Spurs career round it would be after that game. He scored a good goal the fans chanted his name the lad should have been on cloud 9. Unfortunately it didnt happen to be a little fair to him he didnt get much of a run in the team after that goal but when he did he still looked toothless.
I would be amazed if he scored 10 league goals for us next season, he seems a really nice guy but it just hasnt worked out for him at Spurs.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.... When I saw the ball being played up to him on occasions when he had little support, all I saw was the ball coming straight back at us.

Mabye I'm over rating him slightly because I had low expectations of his ability to hold it up in the first place. But I do remember thinking on quite a few occassions last year that he's done well to keep the ball in certain situations.

I think he's fine at holding the ball up, obviously he's not gonna win many in the air but he will run the channels and offer an out ball, I can't remember the games but i'm sure that on more than one occasion we took him off in a game we were comfortable in and immediately found ourselves pinned back as we had nowhere to go

Yea Soldado in a Spurs shirt clearly couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo! But he has shown on quite a few occasions that he can hold on to the ball, bring others in to the game and create chances for others.
