Nabil Bentaleb

And how many times does his distribution let teams in?

I do have the Burnley game in the back of my mind and along with the other 9 out field players he was shocking that day.

He makes 0.04 defensive errors that lead to a goal per 90. In other words, 1 every 25 matches.

Lucas, a player that many see as a more experienced and more defensive player in a similar role, almost doubles that.

The key with Bentelabs contractual position is "is he after a fair and reasonable improvement based on performance". I think he is and I don't doubt for a second the club agree. I think it's being made into something it isn't via the media... And I fully expect an announcement shortly regarding his new 5 year deal

Whatever the ins and outs of this contract negotiation, we need to sort it out soon . The boy is being touted as a future captain , he loves it at the club. This mustn't leave a sour taste.

Distribution isn't a problem. His and others' positioning in relation to each other and picking up opposition players is.

Very often, because he is the one who can cover late, he is the one who is seen out of position, taking responsibility and covering for someone else. It is, as you mention, a problem which has several areas. His area is the least of all IMO, because if he plays with players who are all on their game and doing their jobs supremely well, then he won't have to drop out of position sometimes.

This, this, this this, and until we sort it out you can forget top 4 places.

In fairness, our lack of stable, reliable defense and inside forwards will cost us that in this system. I am intrigued by the potential of a Bloasse/Townsend swap + cash. I don't know if Bolasse is consistent enough, but if he is, could be a great player there. I think Bentaleb is a future skipper (as you know)...

They can't even be bothered to do inventive lazy journalism these days

Wonder how many of these stories are automatically fabricated? Would be fairly easy to create a script where you input player(s) + clubs and transfer fee, and get a "so-and-so media understands" article with the standard cliches on the other end.

Could be interesting to actually find out how many of the credited "journalists" actually exists.

I know that Bloasse has been in the headlines during the end of the season but I am not sure he is consistent either, he has been around for a while and his goal record at Palace is not good ( 7 goals in 106 games, and three of them came in one game). Not sure his defensive work is up to much either and I fear he is a flash in the pan ( so to speak).

maybe for us, maybe for someone else............thats the thing with Bentaleb, top talent but i dont sense any particular loyalty to us. Why would he, he is a footballer, wants o win things and earn big money, he will only stay if his demands are met, if not he will be offski,

Liverpool are all thought to be interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb.

Reports suggest Liverpool want to bring the midfielder to Anfield this summer to partner new signing James Milner in midfield next season.

Twenty-year-old Bentaleb told the Telegraph last week that he is frustrated that negotiations over a new contract have been dragging on for months.

The youngster added that he has been ‘flattered’ by the interest from other big clubs.

With a host of clubs interested in the Algerian the Reds will face stiff opposition for the midfielder’s signature.

Bentaleb enjoyed a breakthrough season last season and was one of the best young players in the Premier League.

While Liverpool’s reported interest in the midfielder might not come as a surprise, it is interesting that Rodgers wants to pair him with Milner in Liverpool’s midfield.

Could Bentaleb’s signing mean a more attacking role for Jordan Henderson?

Agree wit all that and i think he is 25 already and from what i have seen, half the time he doesn't even know what he is doing with the ball.

A fair appraisal and I find it hard to disagree

He is a high energy winger, has pace, is constantly at it .. always a threat, always a fudging nuisance to opposition, could easily see him fitting Poch's press play.

The issue with Bolasie is his end product is brick .. if people fell for the Lennon myth, wait till this guy puts the 10th cross/pass out ...

Back to Bentaleb, we would never sell to Pool for 10M, and 2nd, he'd be an idiot to go there .. fudging lazy ass journalist.
