Tim Sherwood Testimonial OMT Spurs v Aston Villa 11th April

Can the enlightened posters who ridiculed those who said that, although Benteke class was permanent - despite his poor form and he would shine through - be so kind as to step forward. You know who you are...

Still think that? Don't you have a reputation for speaking crud, can see why now. Mason is so so bad. Townsend is even worse. Sub these two players and we'll be infinitely stronger.

The fact our manager can't see it is worrying. I actually don't think he's very good at all, been awful, but very lucky this season

Don't be such a prick

Villa aren't even playing through midfield - it's all long balls

The problem is when you have two grafters in the DM positions and no creative midfielders or playmakers in CM in a deeper position, you don't create much. Allied to a defence that is rarely the same four players from one week to the next, and it is not surprising we struggle. The way that Poch has rotated players in and out of the team over the season is baffling -not the rotation necessarily, but the selection of players.

Chadli, Kane and Rose look like the only players who might make something happen in attack. Eriksen has been very poor. Townsend has done nothing.

In defence, well it's a good job we have Fazio to deal with Benteke...oh. If we concede goals via crosses from deep, then we are in big trouble because that is the easiest way to attack in all of football. Doesn't require any risk from the opposition and if Villa are smart, they will keep trying it.

Not sure what we can do differently in the 2nd half, gonna need some luck I think.

Poch didn't start with Townsend in the burnley game, did you watch that game?

Don't think many defenders could have dealt with that header by bent eke, he is really a monster in the air.

I do think we have a serious lack of power and pace across the pitch, and agree that we don't have a competitive squad for top 4.

if its impossible to defend against benteke he'd score 88 goals a season. other teams have managed to shut villa out this season. even after the arrival of long ball tim.

i didn't watch the burnley game no, but then why drop him for one game and why replace him with paulinho, for one game, and ignore our 30 million pound like for like replacement?

whether poch started townsend against burnley or not, he starts more than he has deserved. he has offered nothing for us this season, nothing. offered nothing last season. thats two season and i bet his combined assists and goals is less than 5 over two seasons. he doesnt deserve to be playing premier league football.

we have better options sat on the bench and not even in the squad. there needs to be an explanation for it, because these decisions cant be based purely on footballing reasons.

I'm with ringo. We have two midfielders who are similar. But mason is a championship standard version of bentaleb. Who isn't quite ready himself. None of them offer protection, none of them offer goals/assist, none of them offer certainty, none of them offer a link to the attacking 4. Our problem ALL SEASON. Eriksen, Dembele even stambouli all offer more in those 2 places.

Townsend is just. I mean. J don't understand how the whole world can't see how utter cack he is. It's bizarre people rate him. Even more bizarre, and worrying, poch does.

The guy scored 3 goals all season until he was finally motivated by Sherwood. We do not need those type of players. We have one sitting on his arse earning 100k right now.

One other thing, our players still don't pass and move enough, some players just lay off the ball and then don't support the player in possession who then loses the ball easily. You don't need to be world class to do this, just switched on and focused.

No Benteke was playing in a team this season who were absolute rubbish - he's now getting service and what a surprise he's actually scoring goals.

Of course nothing to do with Sherwood though, just a coincidence it happened once he took over....
