*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United OMT ***

Season over. Said in January we needed a centre back centre mid and a winger and a striker. Still need those 4. At least today will see the end of townsend in the first team. Wonder if he'll see mason doesn't offer enough, we're so weak in the middle of the park.

No it wont. Townsend will play next game.

Maybe it's good in the long run. Reality check. Think we've got a good idea about what we want most of us are sold on Pochettinos thoughts, but I think we saw that United have more quality with the ball.

I think the league position probably reflects where we are overall and where we expect to be less Southampton

We would have been fine if Bentaleb marked Fellaini the entire game.
Poch stuggles to change anything before half time.
And no one on the pitch took any responsibility to offer Walker more protection.
Where were the leaders?
Bentaleb and Mason should have swapped. It was that obvious I spotted it.

Squads just to small, when hoping chadli, townsend or lamela were going to improve this season, throw in chirches, Kaboul, capoue, ade. Mix it with soldado's form, and selling naughton.

If poch is allowed 3-4 players he wants and not blocked by levy/baldini we'll progress

I think Dembele made a difference today. The problem with him is that you never know if he will or not, he's inconsistent. Otherwise, I'm sure Poch would be happy to play him in the tougher away games.

But I think we could've had Messi upfront in this game and still looked turd.

For all Fellaini won in the air, early on in the game, Dier was handling the aerial battle well imo, then he got done along the ground with a through pass. The Utd pair of Carrick and the other bloke were much better than Bentaleb and Mason, so they controlled things in the early part of the game, and we contrived to make it easy with defenders who didn't fancy winning the ball.

Then down the other end, we don't muster a shot in the 1st half. It wasn't Capello's Milan, it was Smalling, Jones, Valencia and Blind. How did we manage to not threaten that back 4 at all? Terrible performance.

I agree with all of this

The lack of threat was seriously disappointing

To criticize individual players after this performance is pointless. We were a complete shambles as a team from the first minute. We looked nervous, we looked tired, we were outsmarted tactically and poorly organised, we created nothing going forward and they were all pretty much as bad as each other.

Van Gaal had clearly found a weakness in our side. The way he placed Fellaini in between Dier and Walker. Young on the outside kept Walker occupied, and there was lots of space for United to operate in on their left hand side. Too much space between Walker and Dier and not enough help from the players in front of them.

Oh how we could do with a Carrick in our side. It's a shame how we wasted the bale money, IMO personnel wise, although we have great potential, this is the weakest Spurs line up for a long time. No Modric, no Vdv, no bale, no Carrick, no berbatov or Keane, no king. When redknapp was here we had arguably a better team than Arsenal, even under AVB in his first season we more or less matched the gooners. Now they are well ahead of us, liverpool too. We need to bring in some quality which will also enable the potential to develop. It is too much to expect our youngsters to keep carrying the team week in week out especially with how impatient our fans are. I mean Lamela has played one full season and is already written off despite showing promise, Dier and Bentaleb will get pelters despite playing well most of the time. Poch is absolutely the man for the job but without investing in the squad we will be in the same place every season.

Investement can only come once we get rid of the dross

Poch will get backed this summer but i don't envy whoever has to sell the likes of Crapoue

Clattenberg has really favoured the home-side in most of the 50-50 challenges.

Harsh, think he has been fair. I think the home side has been hungrier and has beaten us 75-25 at least fairly. We started so poorly its was hard to get going and before we knew it we were 3 down and against a good team, that is game over. No excuses needed. Which team doesn't have a stinker??

I agree we are weaker than we have been for a few seasons. We're now a side competing for top 6 rather than trying for top 4. The plus side is, we have a young team with scope for improvement and this season will bode well for next time, with players such as Mason and Kane having never done a proper league season of top flight football before,

Can only hope mate that Mitchell can pull some gems out of the bag like we have done in the past.

I think Dembele should always play against the best teams. He tends to do well in these games, and he is the best player in our squad when it comes to keeping hold of the ball under pressure.
