The Run-in...

Everyone is on an amazing run of form around us bar Utd.

Southampton have zero other distractions like us.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Utd have the FA cup.

Arsenal have a huge game against Monaco also.

All we can hope for is slip ups and key injuries for these teams.

And to continue playing each game like a cup final for us.

As far as run ins go then Utd have a tough one and the the rest of us are similarly balanced out.

Everything hinges on next Sunday... win that and the self-belief generate could do miracles. Lose and we would then be looking at EL at best.

I wouldn't be confident even if we beat United. This is Spurs we are talking about. I would not put it past us to beat United, Saints and Emirates Marketing Project, but lose or draw to Leicester, Hull and Villa. We seem incapable of buliding on a big result. We beat Chelsea then lost to Palace. We lost immediately after beating scum.

6th is where will finish I reckon and that would be a good first season for Poch. Our squad is nowhere near as deep as United's or scum's. Liverpool have a better starting 11 and a manager that has been there for nearly 3 seasons and has them playing to more than the sum of it's parts.

I agree. If there is one team in world football who you cannot predict the future for, it's Spurs.

Exactly. You can take any manager or players out of Tottenham but Tottenham will always be Tottenham. On paper, it looks like a simple work for us. Just get 8 wins out of the remaining 10 matches and we will have a greater chance of finishing in top 4, especially if we beat our rivals ManU and Southampton. But you know we will make it harder for ourselves with unexpected results somewhere.

Yeah - compare this point onwards in a few recent seasons

09-10 we had that horrendous cup semi final and had absolutely woeful forwards, yet pulled it out in 3 successive big matches

11-12 and 12-13 we had much better teams and big (c.10 point leads). In 11-12 we imploded big style, whereas in 12-13 Arsenal were just phenomenal and almost didn't drop a single point.

Everyone will slip up during the run in, the key is the head to head, to use a horrible term "6 pointers"

We take full points from SCBC & Manure, we improve our odds significantly.

I'm very much a take it one game at a time kind of guy and it's certainly not over til it's over. I will admit though to looking back to the Crystal Palace away game with more than a tinge of anger mixed with regret. Those three points would have been so valuable and IMHO we really should have taken them. But as I said in another thread earlier this week , I expected nothing this season, so anything we've achieved and that may achieve further is a bonus for me. What we need now as a club, as a team, as fans is belief. I believe and will do so until it is mathematically impossible.
And how about the Sunderland game? One in which we dominated and ended up with a draw. Even if it was just those two dropped points (since some of the other matches where we dropped points, we actually deserved the result), we would be a point off 4th.

Does United's loss at home to L'arsnl in the FA Cup help or hinder us on Sunday? I think we could really turn the screw on their season, particularly as Di Maria will presumably be suspended after his sending off.

COYS - one final push on the home straight.

I think we have to be wary; Manure will be a wounded animal and i'm sure they'd rather be playing us ("Lads, it's Spurs") at Old Trafford than many other high-placed clubs. We are Spurs after all.

However, they are on a downer and haven't been playing well for a while. In fact I believe Stoke at OT in December was the last time they beat a top ten side..

...so hopefully MoPo or his coaches were taking LOTs of notes!

COYS

Let's also hope Manure and their gaggle of media fans don't bleat about refereeing decisions and try to earn decisions by Sunday...hopefully the current media Kane-fest will nullify that....

It could work either way to be honest, it could wind them up to make sure they bounce back ( and avoid two home defeats in a week) or it could demoralise them altogether.

We just need to play the game our way and see how it turns out, Utd are a shadow of the team they were and I have said all season I do not think they will make top four.

Folks, I think we are looking at this in the context of the entire season and we need to be looking at it in the context of where Spurs are now. Yes, in the past we have taken a dive in the last part of the season, but was our fitness as good? Have we shown the resilience to bounce back, both within a game and after a bad loss, as we are showing this year?

I believe that on any given day the current Spurs team can beat all the remaining teams we have to face, with the possible exception being Emirates Marketing Project. All it comes down to is:

1. Rested legs - check (one game a week)
2. No injuries - half-check (so far the training regimen seems to be working in this area, but there's also an element of luck)
3. Concentration and focus - this is the big question mark, but with one game a week, it should be easier to achieve

I think Poch will focus on #3 big time. And even if we don't get 24+ pts in our last 10 matches, the fact that Man Ure, Arse, and brickpool play each other may yield a combination of results that even 20 pts could get us CL. But under no circumstances are we finishing worse than 5th.
