Aaron Lennon

It has been overdue. He's needed a move and something fresh for a couple of years. Lots of nostalgic memories, like Dawson he will be a 'Spurs man' regardless of his next chapter....and he's only 27!

Think he will drop quite quickly now a bit like shaun wright phillips

...but age is significant for a player like him. Pace is a big part of his game and that will only diminish now, indeed maybe his quickest days were years ago.

It is a good move for him, a big stage still. Maybe even less expectation? He wasn't going anywhere at Spurs anymore, and maybe Lamela and Townsend will benefit from more game time to go round.

However..... I'm gutted to see him go. A Spurs man indeed, and quite probably gave us the best years of his career. Those years to me represented the birth of the new Tottenham era, back to Jol and Davids.... and I think there is an argument that he was our best servant over the last ten years. Delivery wasn't brilliant but a helluva lot better than people often criticised him for. And it was his pace that compensated, such danger. I can remember a few late afternoons in the Paxton End, second half and you had Lennon, Walker and Bale marauding down the flanks. The East Stand would ripple up, it was like being at the races. Exciting times! Some great moments, best of all was 4-all.... just a brilliant, amazing moment. I hope he is always held in high regard. All the best Aaron.

This .. Azza grew up with us, I remember that 17 year old kid with lightning pace.

I'm glad he went to a decent level club vs. a Stoke or Hull, hope it works out for him.

Great post!

Disappointed we let Lennon go but can understand why. He never fully proved his true potential to us during the 10 years he had been at Spurs. For all his pace and dribbling skills, his lack of a finishing touch was his main weakness. Can't understand why he failed to improve on his crossing abilities. Thought Pochettino will use him more and try to improve him but disappointingly he never got to play much. Ironically, Lennon was the only remaining player to have started the 2008 Worth.Cup Final. Too bad we couldn't let him feature in the upcoming League Cup Final against Chelsea.

Good luck to the little man. One of my favourite players, just because we bought him for £1m and he has been absolutely fantastic for 9.5 years with us.

1. 4-4 Equaliser v Scum
2. 2-1 Winner v Chelsea
3. 1-0 AC Milan, running the length of the pitch and squaring to Crouch
4. 2-1 Last minute winner v Liverpool
5. 2-1 Winner v West Ham
6. 2-1 Putting us 2-0 up v the scum
7. 2-1 The flick around the corner, spin and finish to score winner v Sunderland.
8. His first season under Martin Jol. Breath of fresh air

So many good memories. I admit I am a very nostalgic supporter, and I'm gutted he's gone. Unlikely he'll resurrect his Spurs career, but I hope he gets a testimonial (a long with Dawson).

Saw this photo on Twitter. With Lennon and BAE gone, the transition is indeed complete...

That trio in the middle of the bottom row :(

Nice tribute! Great Azza memories there. Would add to those:

1. 1-1 His performance against the Scum at the Library in his break-through season - he ran f***king riot amongst the Scum's backline, we should have won that game and got the CL. C'est La Vie, or C'est Spurs I should say.
2. 9-1 Wigan. Defoe got the 5 goals but Aaron Lennon was also absolutely sensational in this match, took apart anyone he went up against, and devastating end product (goal and 3/4 assists IIRC, can't really remember exactly).
3. 2-1 equaliser & long rang bullet against Hull - proof indeed that he CAN strike a ball properly
4. Any performance against Patrice Evra - that there was the starting top class LB for Man U for a number of years, but he got repeatedly anally BRUTALISED by Mr Aaaron Lennon on more than one occasion. Azza owns Evra, FACT.

Azza us one of my favourite players over the years. When on form none better at shredding a full back and his final ball is better than people give him credit for. He should have scored more goals, but he scored a LOT of BIG f***king goals over the years, undeniable. I wish him all the very best, hope he does well at Everton.

Hope he gets to play and get back to what he used to be, though i fear he wont.

Thanks for the good memories.

Stattos out there: Am I right in that Spurs never lost a game in which Lennon scored??

348 games for the club, only 23 players have more. Played more games for us than King, Ardilles, Clemence, Keane, Sheringham...

A great servant, sadly never lived 100% up to his potential, but he's done a lot of good for the club since his debut. On his day one of the best wingers in the country, and while he's very reliant on pace and will inevitably only get slower, he's got more in his locker than just pace, IMO. I think he can do a job for a PL team for at least three-four more years.

Good luck to him, it really will be strange to see him play for another club.

Accodring to this site, yes: http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=36113

We drew three and won the other games he scored in. Quite a few 2-1s as well, so he has scored vital goals for us (although he should've been more prolific in front of goal, to be fair). Looking back at his Leeds stats, Lennon has never lost a game in which he scored. Not bad.

Check out the pics of him on the bbcs sportsday feed, looks grumpy as hell!!! Good luck Azza, all the best, think this is a good move for everyone (even though I'd have used him more)
