yeah they must be thinking about a smiliar incident that happened to a Honduran. then again we also had an Englishman lose all interest for football while on our books. And that little Russian striker from long ago ?
*Ukrainian.
Someone said during our last game that Soldado was our "modern age Rebrov". Paulinho is our "modern age Moussa Saib".![]()
Whoa whoa whoa. Saib was a superb player that never stood a chance once gooner George was put in charge.
I think Soldado is morphing from a Schevchenko type (goalscorer) to a Rebrov type (more of a creator, linking midfield and attack). Signing Rebrov (talented as he was) is probably the biggest waste of money this club has ever done. Not what we needed and probably not even what they thought they were buying at the time.
I agree.
Not just Baldini surely but also "out of sight out of mind" AVB who was part of the transfer committee and had a say on all these players. Do you think for example it was Baldini's choice alone to get rid of Huddlestone and replace with Capoue?
I
Paulinho has said himself after explaining to Brazilian media what an impact AVB's sacking had on his mental state and form that AVB had wanted him at Spurs and was the one who argued with and convinced the club to sign him
That can't be. Bad signings = DoF, surely?
That's such a lame comment. Don't you think the same people would be praising the DOF if the signings were good?
Nope, they'd focus on the one or two that weren't smashing successes or find something else to blame him for.

The trouble is, the majority have been bad so far.

id put Soldado, Paulinho and Chiriches in the bad category - which others would you put there to make it a majority of bad signings?
Just out of interest, what do you think is the minimum requirement in terms of getting them right? Would you say half or just over/under? I accept that no one gets them all right.
How do you judge them though?
Results have stayed the same as before. We've dropped one place in the league because Liverpool primarily have bought their way back in and Everton had an outstanding season. Both have got off to a worse start than us this season.

IMO, we'd be no worse off if we simply hadn't signed Chiriches, Paulinho, Soldado, Capoue and Lamela and used Caulker, Bentaleb, Defoe, Huddlestone and Townsend in place of each of them respectively. We wouldn't really be any better with those players, but we wouldn't be worse and we'd have saved a lot of money.
