Yes, I agree when you look at it that way. But having good support can still help the team, so lets hope the atmosphere does improve at some point - not just for the sake of the players, but for the fans who actually go to enjoy the day out....

Oh I agree it CAN help, but the atmosphere was arguably better when we were really **** 10-15 years ago but it still ultimately comes down to how good the team is.

Agreed, we've heard so much similar stuff from Mourinho, Ferguson, Wenger etc. I really don't understand why people have a problem with it from Poch.

We have no way of knowing what Poch actually says to the players. We have no way of knowing that he's using this as an excuse. He's pointing out one of a ton of factors that is influencing our games. He's not saying we can't play good football, or that we won't, not even that we shouldn't already be doing better, all he's saying is that this is one factor.
To the players he might use this as an extra bit of motivation "remember lads, the pitch is narrower at home, you really have to work hard to create that bit of space". Or he might not even focus on it at all, it's one comment in one interview. Not really the same as making excuses to me. He's been very fair towards us as fans and in evaluating himself at the club so far, I really don't think he deserves to be labelled as someone that makes excuses.
As usual people are taking stuff way out of context though and extrapolating from one comment. We know that managers have to answer questions, they're asked direct questions about stuff the media thinks might generate interest/controversy. Had he answered "no, the size of the pitch doesn't matter" someone would probably complain that he didn't consider the width of the pitch in his game plan or something similar.

Poch has to do the following..
1) No more Kaboul (Fazio or Dier get a run with Vertonghen)
2) No more Capoue (Dembele or Stambouli...my preference is Dembele)
3) Kane starts in place of Ade.
4) Eriksen never starts on the right again....in fact he starts on the left or he doesn't start.

Have confidence that he'll get it right but he needs time and backing in the next two windows. I think we'd be a lot better off if he didnt have so many players and the EL to contend with as selection would be simplier and he'd get more time with a core group on the training ground

2 - im 50-50 n this, i don't think he's been half as bad as some people think but he's not exactly making the position his own. can probably add Bentaleb in to the mix as well
3 - you know what im gonna say here...Soldado in for Adebayor, Kane in for one of the three behind, Eriksen for me atm
4 - Eriksen on the left, possibly - though Chadli is effective from that position and is scoring goals so it's his shirt to lose for me atm

I lost confidence the moment he made Kaboul captain and ade vice captain and slowly I've lost trust more and more. Constsntly making decisions k DK t agree with and not once proving me right, how he persists with kaboul and Ade is baffling. Rose too. He's been better this season but still average...

Poch simply needs time. Trying to improve two sides is tricky. But he will get the players playing better. I think if he'd just had to focus on one PL team we'd be doing better in the league.

You could say the same about the current XI's being picked, unless you didn't see us play against Liverpool, West Brom, Saudi Sportswashing Machine etc. etc.

I'm not sure he's going to get it, if we had lost today, you could imagine the reaction.
Big concern is he seems to be cracking under the pressure, the bottle throw down in first half is not a good sign, nor was the look from the players on bench.
