***OMT***Tottenham Hotspur FC v Woolwich Wanckers

Imagine - we go all out attack - imagine their surprise. 1-0-10 formation. Hav ethem under the kosh - ****in kill them. Get a 4-0 lead. Sit back second half 4-3 win - so ****in simple.

'Imagine all the spurs fans , believing we can win'

'oooooooh ooooooooooooh'

'you may say im a dreamer, but im not the only one'

The thing is, we could all take a defeat if we actually went down fighting and showed we were actually 100% up for it.

But sadly, I predict that we will be dour, lifeless, lacklustre and crumble to a limp defeat. Hope Im wrong. If we're going to lose anyway then just bloody go for it from the start and actually worry THEM. Dont make it so damn easy for them (like the Liverpool game).

That looks good to me. I certainly think we need to sacrifice some attacking intent and have a three in the middle when out of possession.

Lloris
Naughton Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Capoue Dembele Bentaleb
Lamela Soldado Adebayor

Would be my team too although I'd have Stambouli playing over Capoue.

If Kaboul and Vlad start I will be very worried about an absolute tonking...

Besides Walker's surgery and recovery, we have no injuries at all. Arsenal, as usual, suffers from injuries and weak squad depth (Debuchy, Walcott, Giroud defenitely miss the game; Monreal is in doubt). However, it doesn't give us any benefits because currently nobody knows what is the best starting line-up for Tottenham. Even if Pochettino thinks he knows, his setups don't work as we've seen during last 5 poor displays. Several players should have a run of games together but we are yet to understand who these players are.
Nearly each position is in doubt (except Lloris and Lamela, although Vorm did pretty well yesterday). We also lack leadership and top-players' ability to change things on their own. Of course I have strong faith in Eriksen and especially Lamela, but only the game will show if they're on the brink of another level or not.

I see such line-up:
----------------Lloris------------------
--Dier----Kaboul--Vertonghen----Rose--
---------Stambouli--Capoue------------
--------------Dembele-----------------
----Lamela------------------Eriksen----
--------------Adebayor----------------

Subs: Vorm, Fazio, Naughton, Mason, Chadli, Kane, Soldado.

Bentaleb totally lost midfield battle against Liverpool and was very wasteful yesterday although he always tried to move the ball/with the ball to provide danger which is laudable. But a better and more dynamic team would have punished us a couple of times, especially considering Arsenal's pacy players like Sanchez, Welbeck or OX. I don't think Bentaleb should start.
Personally I don't want Kaboul to start, but as I stated in previous OMT thread I can't see Pochettino dropping him. He's our newly made captain and had a rest against NF. Meanwhile, I'm not sure that Fazio is already a better option. Yes, he's hugely experienced, great in the air, but he's also slow and it will be only 3rd match for him in Spurs kit. Overall Federico looked fine, but we could have conceded two goals because of his mistakes: one against Partizan, another one (partly his mistake) - yesterday. Dier plus Vertonghen in centre is a likeable option for many people, but they haven't played a single match together as centrebacks. Also Naughton is not a reliable fullback: he can perfom solidly during several games in a row only to make some absurd mistakes against top oppositions.
Against NF Soldado tried to receive the ball, falling deeper, but again it influenced his direct functions. I can't see him starting, although I don't want Adebayor to start as well. Hopefully he will be fired up and won't make any stupid reckless challenges.

Even though Arsenal doesn't look consistently nowadays, they're always ready against us plus they play at home. Speaking objectively I can see Arsenal winning with about 70% possibility. Holding my fists for Lamela's world-class perfomance which can nick us a draw. It will be a miracle if we somehow win.

true man, I've been thinking that for most of this week. Does not matter how many injuries they have got or generally how 'indifferent' their form is, year in year out the Scum ALWAYS turn up in the NLD. Without ******g fail Wenger gets them going for this match, and even more so as it's at the Death Star.

So the natural tendency is to think they haven't been firing and they got injury woes so they won't turn up - wroooong!! Nah... tey'll turn up on Saturday no doubt.

So we have to pull out a top performance to even get a draw IMO.

I really hope not, but this could be embarrassing.

Kaboul should not be first choice centre back against decent opposition. Clearly Pochettino sees something in him, but to me he's not the player he used to be and can often be a liability out there. Aside from that, I don't see where the goals are coming from at the moment. Adebayor is not the answer for me - it can't be right that I'm genuinely surprised on the occasions he plays to his potential. A brilliant player on his day but the lack of consistency means he can't be relied upon. I still maintain we need to give Soldado a run of games before Christmas. If he becomes the goal-scoring player we thought we were buying, that's brilliant. If he doesn't, then we need to sell him (yes, at a loss) in January and get in a replacement. He's had a year to adjust and hit form; we need to find out right now if he's done so. In fairness, he has not really had an opportunity this season because of the neck injury, so now's as good a time as any. But I doubt Pochettino sees it that way (yet).

This is the team I think we will see:

-------------------Lloris--------------------
Naughton---Kaboul--Vertonghen---Rose
----------Stambouli---Capoue------------
------------------Dembele-----------------
----Lamela---------------------Eriksen----
-----------------Adebayor------------------

But this is the team I'd like to see:

-------------------Lloris--------------------
Naughton----Fazio--Vertonghen----Rose
----------Stambouli---Capoue------------
------------------Eriksen-------------------
----Lamela---------------------Lennon----
------------------Soldado------------------

Yes, there's every chance my selection would get seriously over-run and collapse to a 4-0 defeat. But that's just as bloody likely with any team we put out against Arsenal right now. At least (in my view) it would be another 90 minutes for Vertonghen and Fazio to learn each other's game. Another chance for Soldado to show whether we should keep him when the window opens again in three months.

On top of that, if Pochettino is genuine about letting players "play themselves into" the team, then Dembele simply shouldn't start after last weekend (IMO), and Lennon was excellent against Forest so should get to keep his place... also as our longest serving player he's useful in a NLD in my view (also Lennon's defensive work is underrated in my opinion and that'll be useful against Arsenal). Also, Mason merits a place on the bench.

There's a tiny part of me that believes this will be the week we finally "click" and Lamela, Soldado and Eriksen link up to produce some mesmerizing creative football, slicing through Arsenal's defence and leaving Wenger shell-shocked. But if I'm honest, I think we'll lose by three clear goals.

This is what hurts the most. Not the defeat, it's the way we lose, we go a goal down and our head drop. I do wish we our players were a bit more fiery/feisty and weren't so diplomatic when asked about those scummers down the road.

We've had so many epic collapses at their place.

Fazio and Verts will not be starting. The team will be the same as against West Brom.

10-0 Gooners then.

Seriously though, If Poch starts Kaboul and Chiriches again then there's something seriously wrong with him. I think he'll play Kaboul and Vertonghen for this one but hope Fazio gets the nod (or even Dier at CB and Naughton on the right).

it would be nice to have a real streaky win for a change.....0-0 then a 85th minute penalty or something ,it's been a comprehensive loss every single time in the last few years.....live in hope!!
