Michael Dawson

Nice touch by the club not announcing the Fazio deal today and letting Daws have his moment in the lime-light. Deserves it. Club legend. Hope he gets a testimonial even if he didn't quite make 10 years.

So it's farewell to Daws. I wish him well, model pro and has done us proud over the years. We're now short on CBs and I hope Fazio signs tomorrow.

Probably best for Daws career but can't help feeling rather sad about his departure. He has been fantastic for the club. Good luck Daws.

Really sad to see him go, although it was probably the best move for his career. All the best Daws! Great lad, always seemed like a positive influence on and off the pitch. And I have to say, when he decided to stay and fight for his place whilst not wanted by AVB, and then getting back into the side - well, done. Not a lot of players these days would do the same. I hope he gets a great reception when he comes back to the Lane.

I remember the day he joined...along with Andy Reid..seems ages ago now.

In these days of mega payments to massive ego's, he was a breath of fresh air. Always loyal, a complete professional.

Very sad to see him go

The very best of luck for the future.

Actually quite sad about this, loved the way he always played his heart out and genuinely cared.

Just a little note but I can't remember reading many statements from Levy when players have left that have been as gushing, it's usually just been the standard club statement saying we wish them well.

I agree. The comments from his team mates seem to be genuine and heartfelt too. I guess that it is clear why he was club captain now.

Always loved him as a player but definitely the right time to move on, brilliant when alongside King.....not so much with a few of the others! Look forward to seeing him play for Spurs lite and I have no doubt he will do very well for them.

When playing deeper and given a bit of protection from a Davids / Palacios / Sandro type destroyer, he really excelled, which is why he had standout seasons in 05/06, 10/11 and particularly 09/10 in which he was voted our player of the season in our most successful league season in a long time. People say he only looked good alongside Ledley, but that season King only played around half our games - most of the time Dawson was partnering Bassong and leading the defence.

He was outstanding in our run-in in the 09/10 season when we beat Arsenal, Chelsea and City on the way to claiming 4th. There was also a 0-0 draw against Man Utd in 2008/09 that was exceptional too where he kept Berbatov, Ronaldo and Tevez out of the game. And in the 06/07 season he started 58 out of 59 games for us, very impressive.

Great knowledge, great memory, great post mate
