He might not have played. But Vorm will have been training every day like the whole squad. So he still did not get much rest. But still. Lloris is back so so should he.

That's what's potentially strange about the situation. Lloris played a fortnight ago, yet Vorm's not 'up to speed' enough, to play or even be on the bench in Cyprus, nearly three weeks after Lloris played v Schalke.

So far though the 'strangeness' is within the 'parameters of normality'. If Vorm's not on the bench v QPR though, then surely there is a valid question mark as to whether his absence is linked to the FIFA investigation.

Maybe because Lloris also already has a relationship with the back four whereas Vorm is still getting to know them??

Or because different people are different?

How are we to know? Vorm may have asked for more time off to be ready, lloris may have come back early. Lloris might have looked sharper in training, Vorm could have picked up a knock..

The number of possibilities make it pretty much impossible to speculate with any accuracy.

Again possible, but shouldn't Vorm be getting to know the team, for example by playing the second leg of the EL tie. If we already leading, that's an ideal time to introduce him, with Hugo on the bench in case it goes wrong. Though we're talking about a Prem/proven Dutch international here.

There are many reasons of course why Vorm may not be ready. As I say, I look forward to seeing Sunday's teamsheet.

Exactly. I suspect that Vorm might have been carrying a knock into the world cup and we are giving him time to recover fully whilst we can.

-----------------------------Friedel--------------------------

Naughton-----------Dawson-----Vertonghen--------Davies

-----------------------Sandro----Dembele------------------

-------Holtby-------------Paulinho------------Townsend--

----------------------------Kane-----------------------------

I'd play Soldado for sure to see if he can carry on his good'ish preseason form. Otherwise KD's team looks good and easily strong enough to turn over Limassol.

Is that Kane behind Soldado or are you suggesting we change formation?
I don't really know about that. I tend to think in terms of the 'front six', that's one thing I did agree with Jol about. In fact I got the idea from him.

So for example Kane can play on the left, he can play 'in the hole', Soldado often drifts out wide etc. I leave the details to the manager and players, I just think both should play.

I'd go:

Friedal

Naughton --- Kaboul --- Verts --- Davies

Sandro --- Dembele

Townsend --- Kane --- Chadli

Soldado

Rationale:

- Give Kaboul another run to build understanding/fitness (assuming Dawson is off)
- Get Sandro up to full fitness (assuming he is NOT to be sold)
- Ditto Dembele, Verts and Chadli
- Give Davies a run-out to give him a chance to stake a claim to Rose's place
- Give Soldado a run-out and also see of Kane can link up well with him
- See if Townsend can push us forward with his pace and see how his decision making is going

Holtby?

I wonder if Kab is up to playing Sat and Thursday? For me, if fit, Daws has to start along with Jan, and hopefully both are fresh enough to start v QPR, but one day at a time, sweet Tottenham.
