Morgan Schneiderlin

Interesting development

Morgan Schneiderlin is claiming he has a gentleman’s agreement with Southampton that will force through his move to Tottenham.

Schneiderlin insists this was in place when he signed a new four-year contract in February 2013.

Although the 24-year-old, who earns £45,000 a week, signed his new deal under a previous regime, he insists the club should honour a verbal commitment.
The Southampton midfielder is determined to link up with ex- boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane. Tottenham would spend around £15m to sign him and have been made aware of Schneiderlin’s claim.

Southampton, now under new coach Ronald Koeman, insist he will not be sold.

I'd be ****ed if I was MS now, everyone around him has been sold, owner says no more sales and now they've agreed a fee with palace for cork. Plus boruc now apparently wants out because of forsters arrival.
Saints are in a very bad place.

Don't be silly....he'll force his move to us, stay with us a season, then get sold to Real:lol:

Too true!

we have Capoue, Dembele, Sandro, Bentaleb, Paulinho........Surely Poch can find a solution amongst them.

I agree and arguably a couple of them have more talent than MS so who's to say he cant coach our lot to the heights MS has achieved and beyond? I really dont think signing MS is as much of a necessity as some seem to think....

you shouldn't be if there was a contract. that gentlemen's agreement, now that's another thing. how in the world these gets used when there are millionaire lawyers working the deal still confounds me.

Which one of them had a season as good as MS last year? I also don't think that you can understand the importance of a manager having some players in that they know and trust

Well he didnt know and trust him before he arrived at Southampton and turned him into the player he is. Having seen our midfielders close up I would be very surprised if he didnt think he could do the same to at least a couple of our talented CMs....

I trust his judgement and want to give him every chance of success. If he thinks that he needs MS and we can secure him for a reasonable price. I think that we should do everything that we can to get him.

Hopefully, MS can fill the role whilst Bentaleb and/or Mason develop into his eventual replacement.

I trust his judgment too and am not against signing him at all. But we went for him with Poch barely having seen and worked with the squad, Im sure he wouldnt be dissatisfied at having the current crop at his disposal to develop. Like you say if we can get him for a reasonable price fine, but I highly doubt that....

My ideal foursome would be Sandro, Capoue, Schneiderlin and Bentaleb. Two proper DMs and two deep ballplayers. All a decent age, athletic and use the ball efficiently.

I'd maybe keep one of Dembele or Paulinho for another year so we can ease Bentaleb in a bit.

You only needed to watch us once or twice last season to see that transitioning the ball between our CMs and AMs was probably our biggest problem.

And how good was Schneiderlin at doing this pre Poch? Im sure Bentaleb, Holtby even Capoue or Dembele could be coached easily enough. Like I say not against him coming, but dont see it as a big disappointment if he doesnt especially if its for the likely inflated price....

I'm not saying he cannot do this and he is young enough to keep learning but Bentaleb never played as a deep ball player for the youth team.

Capoue was out injured a lot last season
Sandro the same
Bentaleb played exceptionally well for a 19 year old throwen in at the deep end and earned himself an International callup

Dembele and Paulinho I'll give you.

Still don't think we need Schneiderlin though.
