reading elsewhere re the Lambert > Pool deal - the idea being that they over pay for Lambert and get Lallana at a reduced rate as there is a hefty sell on clause between SCBC and Bournemouth

Could very well be of course, £9m seems a bit much.

I rate Lambert though, more than most on here I would guess. Think it's a very clever move by Liverpool if they get him. Gives them another front man option that's very different from what they have, but that can also take part in their normal play. Versatile, especially for a target man. Premier League experience so he can probably step right in and do a job next season. Will see it as his one chance at the truly big stuff so he will probably be desperate to succeed and will accept being a squad player at times at least. £5-6m and I would say good deal actually.

wtf do Pool want with another striker?

really unless one of sturridge or suarez is going, I'm really struggling to see the point of Lambert ..

Apart from Sturridge and Suarez they don't have anyone else. CL next season, cup games, PL, there are plenty of games to play.

Or another club comes in and drives Lallana's price up again!

oh and Borini.
Borini has been for sale for a while, another dud Rodgers signing along with Aspas who looks to be heading back to Spain this summer..........they certainly need to strengthen the striker dept and Lambert is a decent buy (though I think this signing is part of a double deal to buy Lallana as well so that Southampton reduce how much of a sell on fee they owe Bournemouth)

Gives Liverpool more variety in attack as well. I'm pretty sure a lot of teams will have a game plan for the Suarez & Sturridge show next season. Having Lambert in the mix as a totally different style of player is a bonus for them and due to his age and the fact he came up through the lower leagues, its not going to be a massive deal for them.

I don't think we should be in for Lambert, however, as I think we can develop Kane into a player of equal ability to Lambert, without spending the money we could use elsewhere in the squad.

Liverpool have a small squad. They need to bring in 4-5 senior squad players just to equip them for playing twice a week.

Lambert is an excellent player. I'd start him for England ahead of Rooney.

Agreed. I have been championing us getting Lambert the last two windows. With Kane's progression I have cooled myself on Lambert too.

Liverpool have now upped their bid for Lallana to £25m according to various media tonight

Although I actually rate him, I think that is way to much and I am pretty sure that we will now pull out of chase - if we were ever in it that is
