OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

They have a paper thin squad with barely double coverage in any of their positions.

Are squad is so bloated we have three in some positions. If we only have the league next year we have way too many players.

Our squad was built for multiple competitions.

I dont think our squad will stay the way it is for next season. I think we will be getting rid of quite a few and there will be less bloat. Players like Sig i.e. nothing players will leave. Maybe Capoue et al

Whilst we have a large squad, I dont think the quality is there so you end up having to play the same players again and again

I'm not sure it would have made a huge difference, the problems in our team at the moment are far far deeper than just the quality of the players or where they play. There is no defensive organisation, no attacking plan or philosophy, no ability to start games in the correct manner. Amongst other things.

However, having Paulinho and Siggy in CM has meant that a) we provided almost no attacking threat, even before the sending off and b) our midfield provided no protection whatsoever to Naughton, Kaboul, Dawson and Rose (and typing those 4 names after the amount of money we spent last summer genuinely makes me sad).

Yes :)

I guess Sherwood's idea is to play an attacking game a la City with good passing players who can take the game to the opposition. Although its flawed (because Sigi etc are not good enough to hold possession) in a way you have to credit him for sticking to a plan, and for the points we have never the less amassed.

Again, if we'd have score first, we'd have probably won. And we weren't too far off.

I would have gone for a ourinho like approach with 3 in the middle and the wide men tucking in to make us defensively solid. Then worked on how we break forward in possession. But City and Pool show there is another way, and TS is at least trying something similar.

You might be right but that was not the point. Rodgers has said he needs a bigger squad all season. We built ours for the multiple games. You cannot blame the European games for our league form. We played almost a complete different team in Europe. We just have not been good enough all season. Europe or not.

I will be gutted if we have no Europe.

Im sure you have practiced that enough. Its ok though.

Let me sum this up for you. Someone (not me) said that going for two strikers when one man down was a wise/bold move by Tim. Someone (not me) then quite correctly said that the scoreline surely mattered, and that 2-0 vs 0-0 has a bearing on the decisions made. I then, quite innocuosly, pointed out that the scoreline was in fact 1-0 when the sub was made.

How that makes you go ballistic and declare me unfit for anything from watching footy to holding a job.. well. In your on words, 'unfathomable'.

Either get help, or learn how to read properly.

I see what you mean but even this season we played first teamers in europe so it does have an impact ultimately. Look EL in the latter stages is great but I dont like the journey to get there. Im happy for a season away. Focus entirely on the league and F.A. Cup

Eriksen and Lloris have been very good, the rest very average to poor.

Time to go out in the sunshine...
