*** The Official 'How do you stop Emirates Marketing Project?!?!' OMT ***

I rarely do this, but in this case I will. I absolutely said exactly this above with regards to Bentaleb, who was clearly unsure of what Dembele was, or wasn't, going to do and where he was going to be. It impedes the partnering CM massively, and I think Bentaleb was often left in a no man's land of wanting to push on into spaces but not being sure that Dembele would hold. We saw this with the first goal, when Dembele was caught GHod knows where. As the senior prof,,it is on Dembele to be clearer IMO...

Sandro - Dembele never (or at least very rarely) have those issues. This rests at least as much on Sherwood as on Dembele. Either don't play Bentaleb or make sure the other players are aware of their duties.

The game wasn't like that. There was a gulf in quality (helped by some poor decisions), it wasn't a tika-taka team getting bullied out of a game.

No but the principle of my argument that some of us are sounding like Wenger a few years ago still stands

For me Toure sticks his trailing leg out and it catches his shin. To be fair Rose just looked like his legs weren't strong enough to keep going

Let's see if when we play against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea when we play Bentaleb instead of or without a Defensive CM how we get on, and what people's reactions to it will be if we get steamrollered through the centre again.

Would you like to address why in your opinion we still got steamrollered against Emirates Marketing Project even when we played Sandro and got hammered by Liverpool despite playing Paulinho and Dembele?

no, we spent over 100 mill and got back 86 mill for one player.....that made us very lucky, how many players are sold for 86 mill????Yes we lost a great player, but we spent over 100 mill and the jury is very much out whether that money was spent wisely

That is not spending 100 million. That is reinvesting a massive amount of money received. Whether we did wisely or not remains another topic of conversation.

I think that everyone would have started Sandro had he been match fit. It will be really interesting to see who Sherwood selects once Paulinho and Sandro are back

That's because Sandro is a magnificent, intelligent footballer. I'd like to see Sandro Pailinho in the model or failing that, Sandro Bentaleb. Dembele would be in my squad only.

Not really, I'm not arguing that. I would have started Sandro had he been fit. Sherwood prefers Bentaleb to Capoue and has been largely vindicated so far. I do not think that Capoue would have made much difference to the result tonight or the performance.

Emirates Marketing Project scored after what 14 seconds? It was a shocker from there and at home they have beaten many sides like that anyway. Sandro didn't look fit to me as well - didn't he puke on the pitch??

Verts was exposed at LB by the pace of Navas and he had no help from Lamela (crazy to start him on the left imo). Kaboul and Dawsin are usually Laurel and Hardy when apsied together. Many many other issues aoart from a DM playing (who was not fit imo).

City were far more ruthless that day as well.

Liverpool. No pace in the CB pairing. Sandro again unfit in front of them. Paulinho and Dembele are NOT strictly DMs...it's why West Ham kept running through us after they went a goal up. And Hull in the CC game.

Today we at least had the option of using a CM but didn't feel the need to use him:~

Didn't we make 6m in the summer according to stati's stats?

1) Lennon was anonymous

2) Sig kept drifting inside and left Rose isolated when attacking

3) Started slow again and never got going, we've managed to turn it around before but it was too late by time we eventually got going.

4) We came up against a team that are in **** hot form, it happens, AVB wasn't entirely to blame when we lost 6-0 and Sherwood isn't entirely to blame tonight either.

5) Eriksen never got into the game despite some outstanding set pieces.

6) Bentaleb looked out of his depth which isn't a disaster at this stage of his career.

7) Appalling decisions by the linesman.

8) Didn't close them down and they exploited the space we gave them.

9) Dawson should have been replaced years ago............................................................

Let's be fair and agree that Rose dived for the free-kick that led to the Dawson disallowed goal

Not at all, toure clearly kicked his leg, and after being booked and his reaction to the foul he'd just made was lucky to be on the pitch!! Seriously mate, watch some footage!!!' Or post it here even better, I wipuld but I don't know how!!!

that is spending 100 mill:lol:.......we got a ridiculous sum for one of our players and spent it all. If i gave you 100k for your E type Jag and you spent it all on 7 Ford Fiestas, you spent it on those cars. You spent the cash. Re investing, spending, there is no difference. You had a large sum of money in your hands and now you dont.

I would always start Sandro as well, but Capoue is Sandro's back-up as a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER. We needed a defensive midfielder against City's big guns today and we didn't take that option. Foolish imo.

Some good wins against teams that are no where near City's level shouldn't be used a barometer as to why we can think we can go into a game against such a free-scoring team without a defensive-midfielder. Like I said, thinking just like Wenger and Arsenal a few years back...

I watched it! It was not a foul at all imo

its not about net spend, just simply having a sum of money at your disposal and then spending it. If we got 40 mill for Bale, we would have spent that 40 mill. We got 86 mill, and we spent all that 86 mill. The question is did we spend it wisely. Probably we would have been more careful had we only got 40 mill for Bale:-k

For me our base is probably best served by Bentaleb alongside Sandro. I honestly feel that we need a dictators presence around that area and for me Dembele doesn't do that job.

Players have been sick plenty of times over the years and still finished the game. If he really was that sick then he shouldn't have been picked in the first place. You say 'Emirates Marketing Project have been battering everyone' so why is it much different tonight?

They're not DM's but they are supposed to be powerful CM's who should in theory be able to prevent us getting thumped 5-0. The Liverpool performance was easily worse than tonight. Once again, if you think Sandro was unfit then AVB shouldn't have picked him.

I still don't think it would have made much difference.
