Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Re: Avb done (official)

It's a shame but he had to go.

I wish him well. I think he was very dignified at the club when put under some unfair pressure and scrutiny. But ultimately, he was in over his head and performances were unacceptable. I wish the guy well and hope he bounces back from this.

I'm not sure what way we go now, I'm sure Levy has a plan. But this was the right decision.

Re: Avb done (official)

Actually feel slightly shocked by this. He wasn't my choice as manager and have never been convinced by him but I honestly thought he would have got more time. But we do not know what goes on behind the scenes, maybe the players were unhappy. Honestly have no idea who could take over.

Re: Avb done (official)

Levy the big man,to cover his **** decisions, can he go next pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeeeeeeeee,joe.............................pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeee................

Re: Avb done (official)

Levy HAS to take some the blame for this. At what point does he stop and actually employ the right person for the job? If my CEO continually employed ****ups questions would be asked

Re: Avb done (official)

I've never heard any players (bar Ekotto and Ade) say anything bad about AVB. In fact the opposite, all players came in teh press talking of how much they enjoyed working with him. Wrong decision to let him go for me. Who is available now? Capello?

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I really hate to say it, but that lot down the road are much closer than we are.

They won't win the league though and their wage bill is an awful lot higher than ours. When they were successful and competitive, they were spending a fair bit too and that was before the oil money came into the league.

Re: Avb done (official)

Can't believe this.....gutted. Wrong knee jerk decision. I do hope Levy has something up his sleeve.

i am surprised that the club would let that single result be the straw that broke the camels back to be honest

BUT......if it is more than the result...and if factors such as myself , jurgen and kingdawson have been bleating on about in the minority are infact the cause then at least i can comprehend the reasoning behind it...BUT the sacking would still surprise me even if those were the factors

we shouldnt have sacked him, even though this guy was not ready to live up to his own hype and mythology i think he would have been able to grow into the plan he clearly had in his mind

but that dressing room, the players body lanuguage....all felt wrong to me IMO. even when people celebrated with AVB ..it seemed exagerrated and kind of forced....

wrong move....the dead cat bounce is the best we can hope for now

who takes over?

Re: Avb done (official)

Was right thing to do, despite many bad performances and clear evidence that the system he was using just wasn't working he kept on and on and on using it every single week.

Now hopefully we can get a bit of direction rather than playing the same system every week with our heads in the sand hoping it will eventually just work.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Aside from Lloris, we do not have one top class player in our squad. We cannot compete with the likes of City who have half a dozen. Put Jesus in the manager's chair and the result is still the same.

I think you are a little off there

Jan Vert if played in the correct place is class

Paulinho might not be Messi but he plays regular for one of the top international sides in the world, as does Sandro

And before we got our claws into him Soldado was the third top scorer in La Liga for the past 3 season behind two of the best players in the league.........

soundbites possibly? 90% of the time thats what you will hear a professional say about a colleague

kind of like how you cant give a bad reference

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

we need to make sure we make the most of what we have so when the teams above us are less than their best we can capitalize and move above them. I don't think after his last two seasons we can say that Redknapp was getting the maximum out of the squad/team.

I disagree. On balance, over a season, I think he was getting very close. In his last season, I do hold him responsible for bending over for the FA and taking his eye off the ball. But the run we were on until February was ridiculous. That was down to him too. People don't want to give Harry the credit for that. Had it not been for a ridiculous run of events in the CL, he'd have qualified us for a second time in three seasons. That's overachievement with the resources we had/have.

Like I say, we may get above one of the sides now and again but we won't do it consistently unless we get some oil money.

Re: Avb done (official)

just listening to 5 live - why oh why oh why did they find the few spurs fans that want Hoddle back? seriously if it's not bad enough we've just sacked our manager we then decide we need to put someone in charge who has spent more time in the the commentary box/studio than in the dug out in the last decade? No offence but Glenn had his time, he is not what we need right now.

FFS if this happens Levy is an idiot.

on the plus side Arsenal have jsut drawn bayern :) so today is not all that bad.
