I think One of Dembele/Sandro will be out of the team, which is alright as one of them is always injured.

you raise a good point actually. Do you reckon Wheelchair could play in that position?

after thinking about it, I dont think Villa will join if he isnt the central striker, the main man....i like your idea and it would be amazing if AVB could pull it off, but imo Villa knows he is a brilliant finisher and he will want to get back to feeding off all the chances created for him.

regarding Dembele/Sandro, you are most likely right. Also Dembele has this niggling hip problem
 
Alex Ferguson never played his full strength side every week, neither does Mourinho. We should look at the opposition and see where we need strength. I think this is how AVB works looking at some of the times he switched up our team last season, but we were just weak in the middle. You couldn't take Dembele out and replace him with anyone more deadly. With Paulinho added in there we can at times leave one of the bench to come on later etc.

I think it's a great little headache to have.

for Spurs, errrm i dont think so ;)

Wheelchair? Im not sure. He has shown flashes of creativity in the final 3rd, but because he is very good defensively, has a strong engine, i think he is better suited in a defensive position with the license to roam forward. A lot like Dembele actually, whose capability to win the ball back is underrated by many

Pjanic reminds me a bit of Wheelchair, especially in the way he plays. He can play very well deep but can also play further up field (as Pjanic has done at Lyon and at times at Roma). Pjanic doesn't score much (neither does Wheelchair) but they can definitely find that killer pass. Fabregas was similar when he was younger, never the best finisher but could provide killer passes and I have no doubt he could have played more forward, then he improved that style of his game and you'd be silly to play him deeper!

He pretty much has already stated this yet people continue to put him out wide...makes me laugh.
 
A lot of people seem to think Pjanic will end up moving backwards from an ACM to a deeper lying sort of Modric/Xavi type role once he matures a bit.

He's certainly not an inside forward anyway

Unless he suddenly becomes crap (Torres, Reyes, Juninho, Ireland) or gets injured (Lentini, Gascoigne, Korsten).

Betting against unsecured future income is never a smart thing to do

Only Mumorn seems to think that tbh.

If we sign him it's to play out on the wing. No way will one of Dembele, Paulinho or Sandro be sacrificed for him in the centre.
 
Pjanic has said he doesn't really enjoy playing wide. It doesn't matter anyway as there's no way we're signing him.

Yep don't think we're signing him either.

I do wonder what sorth of player we will eventually end up with to play the wide role though.

Considering i am probably the only one here who watches 80% of Roma games WHERE HE'S PLAYED MOST OF THE TIME, it's not hard to see why.

We won't sign him anyway.

Yeah - AVB's mate Jason Burt has said that Pjanic and Bernard were really last summer's targets (when the spotlight was instead allowed to linger on Moutinho and Willian).

Paulinho and Halilovic seem to be this summer's versions.

do you think we'll end up signing a wide player or do you think AVB is happy with Lennon/Townsend/Sigurdsson/Dempsey to play there for now?
