The Goon Thread

my goon mate offered me his ticket to watch milan, he paid good money for it and he can't bear the shame of going now! its a bit of a thinker as to whether to go, might be an enjoying 90 mins watching another rout

I'd go. If there's a slim chance that the scum look like they might make a comeback, then just leave.

From the BBC Website:

From Benji, an Arsenal fan in London: "Emirates Marketing Project have definitely shown Europe their quality this evening yet if you remember, a weak Arsenal team beat a much better Porto side not long ago and gained little recognition!!"

In the race for who has the most pathetic fans the Goons seem to have taken the lead.

interesting stuff

#arsenal could fall foul of FFP if we get no ECL as we will be loss making.

#arsenal held up FFP as be all, we are in monitoring stage.

If #arsenal fail to qualify for ECL it will cost club c?ú45m

As said yesterday we will see profit for the year as a club of north of ?ú40m. Shows club entirely dependant on player trading to make profit

#arsenal have confirmed to #ast that the ?ú50m in cash available. BUT the business model is sensitive to ECL participation. Can we spend?

Still ?ú35m in cash due to be received for Queensland Road likely to be received in next 6 months.

#arsenal have approx ?ú50m available in cash for use.

#arsenal will have increased revenues by ?ú10m in the reported year. But essentially stripping out player sales the club is BREAK EVEN

*#arsenal made ?ú3m out of tour to Asia and Stadium debt now stands at ?ú220m *

?ú54m spent in summer on players MA ?ú10m,Gerv ?ú11m, OC ?ú12m, Lurch ?ú9m, Santos ?ú6m,Jenkinson ?ú1m, Scarlet Parkenel ?ú3m, Campbell ?ú1m, Ryo ?ú1m

The Arse definitely need to sort out their wage bill

But whilst they have their shiny stadium and we have our smaller stadium, they make 3.3m per game compared to our 1.6m per game

So if the FFP system works, and if they can sort out their contracts... they will be in a strong position still

I just want them to shrivel up and go down the drain into League 2, but the floaters never sink :(

Why? Their biggest earner RVP will be off in the summer so that trims their wage bill a little bit.

How much money do you think we can potentially/realistically earn from a stadium sponsor?

Arsenal got ?ú100 million for a 15 year deal that included shirt sponsorship. That's ?ú6.7 million a year. We currently get about ?ú10 million from Autonomy alone.

A stadium deal for 15-20 years could be around ?ú200-300 million.

No expert on this but wouldn't the value of the land (the area its in) make a difference?

serviceable debt innit. not for much longer...

are there any vultures circling looking to pick off Wheelchair and Vermaelen for bigger clubs? I can see both of them going in the 2012 bonfire.

remaining good players at Arsenal?

RVP, Vermaelen, Wheelchair, Ramsey, Walcott(?), Arshavin (?)

I wonder if we can pick one or two up? Obviously dont want any of those bottlers, however Harry does have a magic wand...

surely, by virtue of having a stadium full of Arsenal fans, it reduces the land value to that of a toxic waste dump immediately?

I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

This forever in our shadow saying makes me laugh, like Liverpoo fans all they have is the past now as their present and future looks horrendous
