Richarlison

Maybe the players that we do have might started getting a bit annoyed with a prevailing narrative that Richy is the saviour of this team, when actually they just need the time to acclimate to this system? Maybe RDZ is protecting them by saying this?

Why would the players get annoyed by something literally nobody has said, or even insinuated?

What prevailing narrative that Richy is the saviour of this team? 😂😭

This topic really sets people off doesn't it (myself included when I'm triggered by the level of discourse).

The idea that it's better to have an option, rather than not having one is some absurd sentimental overreach is incredibly disingenuous.

I mean it makes sense considering the abhorrent, disgusting slander Richy has levelled at the club on social media - Imagine stating that you'll make your own decisions, and honour the contract if it comes to it and continue to give his best for the club. The bastard.

A point many have tried to argue, myself included, probably badly, for the past week. But then it comes down to ridiculous notions that you are somehow claiming he is a saviour, or people end up saying "yeh but he is sh1t", both of which are missing the point.

Can Richarlison still be loaned out?

I think that for the sake of team morale, he should be kept away from the club.
So that we don't have to talk about it anymore.

And so the team and the coach can work in peace

Something is going to have to happen, the situation is looming over us and will continue to

Think no one can register any more players until January? Emergency loan conditions might have a loophole but only ever heard of them being used for keepers

I have replied to @SissokoWasGood (BoL) on this mate, so will save us all a repeat.
I will add for clarification that I am not sure we were as clear with him on the options he didn't have as we were with other players. The Everton situation is unexplainable unless you were there. My best guess is that the rumour of loyalty payment is true (and we wouldn't). If we knew at the end of last season we weren't extending and he wasn't extending, we should've been able to find the right solution, which would've started with leaving him out of pre-season plans and making clear there was nothing here for him if he wanted to stubborn out his last year.
Loyalty payments to are contractual mate so that is a non story.

He is brick. He's more of a negative when he plays than he is a positive.

Goodness grief mate, it’s clear the point I’m making. If RDZ is asked about the player he hasn’t registered, and can’t be registered for another 3 months, then the question is designed to insinuate we are missing something from Richy, and that we’d be better off with him in the team. In that context, I can understand why he would be more inclined to make clear that it wasn’t exactly all roses with him in the side, and to stick up for the players that are actually on the pitch.

You’re zeroing in on ‘saviour’ as if it negates the entire argument. It’s poetic license on a forum. But it’s clear why the question is asked. And it’s clear why RDZ is answering it the way he is. The matter is settled for another 3 months, so there’s no point asking him about it in the press conferences.

What he does do is cause issues in the box , which the last 2 games would have been an improvement.

Once again, im not claiming hes a top level striker, but he is a bigger threat than Solanke, always has been.

Why we didn't buy Thiago in the summer if we were throwing money around is beyond me

I'm zeroing in on it because it's straw-manning. No one is talking up Richy to be anything other than an option that could have been utilised. You're willfully misrepresenting peoples views.

See my thoughts are and I might be wrong is that if Richy is on the pitch those same chances are unlikely to be made because of his specific defiences. Yes he causes problems in the box but he also stops us getting the ball inyo the box far more often.

My feelings about Solanke although with a different cause are largely the same. My stance this summer was sell them both, because yes I actually think it would have been better for them both not to be here. There are so many strikers I would rather have than either it would probably be easier for me to list players I wouldn't have.

Why is the manager being asked about Richarlison? The matter is settled for the next 3 months +. He’s being asked because there’s an assumption out there that we’d have better results if he was in the team. If RDZ was to say there is a way back, it would be an insinuation that the players he has and trusts and has belief in don’t actually have his full belief. He could choose to say no comment, but I think he’s choosing the opportunity to put forward his own narrative.

I don’t think I’m being disingenuous by arguing that the longer term benefits of building a culture where everyone is fully bought in, and where the club has a level of trust with their players where if they facilitate moves and move to sign replacements that these deals can go through, and won’t be held up by point scoring. Many people think the culture thing is nothing - fine. I happen to disagree.

How on earth is it professional for Richy to go to social media and go against the manager and the club? And insinuate we’re not doing right by him by agreeing a deal with Everton, after he’s asked to leave? It is obviously unprofessional. And I think we need to stop being a club where crap like this is tolerated.

Honestly I think you’re the one strawmanning by zeroing in on it.

In your view is he an option that is going to improve results? If so you’re saying he is going to do something that the currently selected players can’t do. In which case you might be saying he is sort of a saviour. If you feel he’s an option that wouldn’t materially improve results, then I’d wonder why anyone wants him as an option in the first place.

I have to say I think Solanke has been a level off it so far. I’ve always put him in higher regard than Richy. Not sure if it’s fitness or adapting to RDZ’s system but he just looks like a bit of a non entity too right now.

Do I think Solanke is better than Richy? Yes. Do I think that level is still below the minimum standard required? Yes.

So it doesn't surprise me he looks bewildered and off the pace. When hasn't he? At no point has he ever been a serious and consistent threat across the various manager we have had at Spurs and I don't blame them. It's him. When he first came I said we don't create much for him and that's true, but even when we are creating he's never involved or he can't separate and get any space for a shot. He's just a body at this point.

I don't think you understand what strawmanning is mate.

I don't know if he'll improve results or not, but i tell you who won't- Xavi fudging Simons who isn't available to play until Easter 🤣

No mate I think I do. You’re building up this idea that the other side of the argument is saying he’s a saviour, as if that negates the entire argument, rather than engaging with the substance of the point.

If you don’t know whether he’ll improve results, why does it matter? Why is our coach being asked about him? Why should he be registered? What good is an option if he’s not going to be better than what we already have? Why should we give a spot to an unprofessional player who has spoken out against the club and doesn’t want to be here ahead of a player that does? (To be clear, I’m not talking about Xavi here, I’m talking about giving him game time ahead of Solanke, Marmoush, Tel, Kudus, Gallagher, Savio, Maddison…)
