I don’t think he’s saying that he had no say in the decision. He’s making the point that if someone doesn’t want to stay he has no other option than to leave them out, because he only wants players that want to be here.

He has been absolutely backed to the hilt here in a way that no other Spurs manager in my lifetime has been backed. I couldn't see Levy allowing a manager omit a player as high profile as Richarlison from the squad.

Feels harsh on Richy as he seems a decent lad but none of us know what's gone on really. Fair or unfaire, it might turn out to be a very good marker that RDZ has put down with the squad and Richy just becomes collateral damage.

Whatever happens, RDZ has to deliver for us - he has no excuses.

Yeah it’s like a more expensive and high profile version of Poch going scorched earth on Townsend for talking back to the fitness coach. But we were bloody great after that so clearly the team locked in. Hopefully a similar thing here, shows RDZ isn’t messing about.

Just still so confused by Richy’s thought process though. If the Turkey move wasn’t there, what is he doing? Did he think he could hang out for another year at Spurs, after telling RDZ he wanted to leave, and then get a bigger move next year as a free agent? Just very strange indeed.

I don’t understand why we would ask him to extend his contract unless it was to get more money for him when it comes time to sell. That’s the only logical reason.

I don't think he's ever been motivated by that. He's always seemed quite principled. I'd imagine if they offered him a fair wage, triangulated against their means and league norms, he'd be fine

Seems mental to have not registered him if a move away fell through - for all his faults he can put the ball in the net, which can't be said for m/any of his teammates.

It's up to Richi really. Unless he wants to head in to apologise and admit that he was a total dingdong then he should train on his own until January.

We can continue to be subservient to players as a club, or we can set this new path and start acting like a big club and creating the new culture.

Believe it or not, our club will save so much more money in the long term with other players behaviour if we establish these ground rules now. Nobody would have even challenged Fergie, Pep or Klopp if this happened under their tenures.

There is alot of truth in that but such is the nature of football and players that there will come times even with the new chosen band of brothers that someone does something or wants game time or shows their disapproval, you can't run an exclusive "like it or lump it" attitude to players, there has to be some give with the take, otherwise as a manager you will run out of road fairly quick
