It's an odd one.
Going by form of last season and just a couple of games (I know it's too soon to properly judge) you can't blame him for leaving...And a few years ago it'd sound absolutely insane to suggest Sunderland finishing above us, but is now a reasonable prediction.
It's that attacker / defender thing, find me a defender who doesn't have a mistake in him, even the best fudge up. But from a scale of Chiriches to Maldini, he was further towards the Maldini side (let's see how many misinterpret this bit!), by no means perfect but available and reliable. Plus a likable guy too, and I absolutely wish him the best.
It's not like a Sanchez type player where I felt bad for him, Kev obviously has what it takes to play in this league and Sunderland are a decent outfit.

He made two really memorable mistakes and only one of them was in a professional match. I guess because of them the narrative for him has been set. It's strangest because he makes fewer mistakes than VDV does but people will sing his praises and rarely mention the repeated mistakes VDV makes pretty much game after game.
Anyway it's done now. He's moved on. Good luck to him.

VdV played over 4800 minutes to Danso's 2690. Given the shape of things, your assumption might hold true. I am still amused that this discussion is ongoing. As for VdV's 'repeated mistakes game after game' comment? Come on. That's nonsense.

RDZ seems to be aware by bringing in VDH and senesi, along with the re-signing of Davies

Sorry to see him go, he looked a good player to me, seemed to give his all in every game, not a "superstar" but you don't have to be if you're reliable.
Without doubt, Danso deserves our gratitude for his stellar contribution to keep us up in the last dozen games of last season. But OMG you would think we were selling a prime van Dijk. Whether people like it or not, Danso was fourth choice and he would likely have started less than a handful of games... probably only coming in to give some aerial presence late in games where we were defending a result. We have recuped the fee we paid for him and even made a book profit and found a replacement with even better aerial presence - and (from his Fulham days) vastly superior pace, ball control, creativity and passing accuracy...
I am not suire how much of this negative reaction stems from the fact that people resent us taking "Chelscum rejects", which is something that doesn't bother me at all. If we get the Fulham Tosin we chased two years ago, then he will be more than an adequate replacement for Danso.

I might just for you start taping the matches and highlighting them for you because you don't notice them.
There are some specific errors he makes weekly. He lets his man run off him all the time. Almost every everyone of his lung bursting recovery tackles is becauae he let the attacker drift away from him. Yes the tackle looks impressive, but if he had just tracked his man or paid attention to his movement in the first place the last ditch tackle wouldn't even be neccesary.

MVDV biggest issue IMO is positional sense, in the box he has terrible positional awareness
