What are the other examples of players having extended time out and returning to their prior level. Rio Ferdinand? I’m sure I’m missing a few.

Very interested to read about how he’s stayed in shape and maintained his ability. He won’t lose the talent, but just how long is it going to take to get up to speed when Tonali still isn’t fit despite playing up until the end of last season and having an entire pre season with us?

I would be surprised if he doesnt turn out a better loan than Werner and RKM were.

I hope there is some kind of option on Mudryk, if he turns out to be a success then we will have literally done the hard graft for fudging Chelsea in getting him ready to either play for them next season or sell at a higher price.

My issue here is we’re going in to the season with Tosin, Murdyk & Richarlison all in the squad but if we had Phillips, Moore, Lankshear worst case there is no drop off and you hace 3 homegrown players improving and learning what De Zerbi wants.

I am staggered at our transfers this year. On one hand I was filled with optimism for the season, even though I thought we had overpaid massively for our incomings and got underpaid massively for our outgoings. I am probably the most pessimistic Spurs fan you could meet, and it has not changed after our first 2 games. Btw I have just seen that Liverpool have turned down an £80 million bid from City for Gakpo. Anyway what would you see as a good season for us right now? Avoiding relegation by a whisker again? Finishing 10th in the table, or does anyone really think we will be challenging for an european place?
Look at Villa last year, they lost their first 4 games and got into the Champions league. I've got to say if we do sign Toisin and Mudryk I will not be getting too excited, but my boys think we are going to come good and zoom up the table!

Yes we"vev overpaid for some. Probably Tonali and Savio. But i think Fernandes at 85 mill in years to come will look like a good deal. Same with Marmoush at 65 mill. Van Hecke was 52 mill? Only reason that seemed high was the 1 year left on his contract.
As we ve seen from other clubs signings this off season, the market has gone skywards.

It's quite clear that one thing has been prioritised above pretty much everything else: Premier League experience.

I genuinely believe Mikey Moore's devlopment is vital, and this loan is superior to anything we could give him right now. Philips has not been good enough for several managers, why would he suddenly be an option for us? Lankshear wanted regular football, again the ideal would've been to bolt in a firm buy-back clause, but apparently he didn't want that. We do have a matching clause plus a sell-on percentage. I personally think he will crush the championship and then it will be a case of whether he is a Kane in the making or a Delap. We simply don't know. FWIW I really like him.

At least this is a 4th choice...let's see if there's a surprise to come. Something isn't adding up in the Gakpo-Ndiaye merry go round for me. I think Gakpo's camp will push hard again (all speculation of course, now THIS stuff is entertainment for me!)...
