It's the cultural change that is the most interesting with the new manager. It starts last season where Roberto tells these players that he will help them move on if they give 100% for him and help him to get us to stay up. We then shift to the summer and Roberto and the club are true to their word and we've seen an exodus of some decent players.

I quite like the way that Roberto is making it about himself rather than the players. He always reminds the outside world that he loves these players like Richi and he is refreshingly honest about their desire to leave. It is not personal and it all feels like a non-emotional conversation that is taking place to establish a quid-pro-quo with club and player. As much as some fans will hate this, this culture is also shared by Johan Lange who then works with the players and agents to get them moved on quickly, whilst we secure replacements.

What I would ask is that what happens when a relatively new players who is holding a first team shirt gets loose in the saddle? Does Roberto afford them the same conditions and let them leave?

My take on this is to just focus on us signing our new top scorers, and get behind Dom who can contribute massively.

Johnson is a great example of a player not to use in this argument. Moved to Palace and couldn't register goals. Already been moved on after 6 months.

Also interested to know what the Everton fans think about Richi heading back there.

I think to have FULL buy-in and a cohesive direction of travel across the group, it's an essential step. As you say, doesn't have to be emotional. Respectful, absolutely. Logical, 100%.

Don’t disagree. I was just correcting. We will have sold our last 4 top scorers the following season (assuming Richy goes, which I’m fine with)
 
There can be good reasons to selling the top scorers, but given our record over these seasons it might not be the best plan to sell before you have a proven replacement (proven in the sense of scoring goals for us, not his previous club).
 
Everton are apparently about to sign Balogan, so perhaps we’ll be keeping Richarlison after all…

2024 - sold Kane (previous season top scorer)
2025 - sold Son (previous season top scorer)
2026 - sell Richy (previous season top scorer)
