It seems she was happier than him. He knows he is only going to make up the numbers. I suppose its the experience that matters.

He's been training in the off season to keep fit for just this chance/moment, so I suspect he cares a lot. Her being happy for him is nice ..

Depends, if he shows up big in training who knows, plenty can happen, especially with Romero injury record.

Still, the guy will come to Spurs better for the experience

No doubt the American customs will label him as an illegal alien coming from South America and put him straight back on a flight to THFC.

amazing positioning and calm on the ball. may not have physical speed but he is thinking is two steps ahead of anyone out there. Just look at the number of deliciously weighted balls through the midfield from the Hoffenheim match. perfect debut, no mistakes that i saw. good at headers too - honestly i don't think we will miss romero much.

dezerbi clearly understands ballers and can spot one. what an acquisition and player.

How do you feel about these comments after watching him today?

That is as bad a debut from a new centre half as I've seen for a very long time. He was dragged all over the place, barely won a single physical battle in the air or on the ground and showed very little leadership considering his age and experience.

I will need some help to understanding this purchase based on today's performance.

You shouldn't never judge a player on a single performance, especially not a debut. Give it at least 10 games but ideally 15 and then you can really get a feeling for what a player is capable of.

Nor can you judge a player as part of a shocking team performance. By that standard every single player on the pitch has been a terrible purchase.

Let’s take a breath, realize that we have 3-5 starters yet to come back into the team with a lot of new players and we played a very good team at their place.

Agree it was one of the worst debuts, but Van Hecke was equally poor imo.

Not sure what you are expecting from him, but he needs players around him to pass to, and Brentford made sure to close down all the opportunities around him.

Also in profile Senesi is not a leader - i think that responsibility falls to van hecke who was primed to be captain at brentford until we bought him. i have confidence that we will see better performances - and he already showed it in three or four situations at brentford.

imo bergvall was the missing midfield pivot and richy the failed alternate, which made it difficult to get out of that wing.

I think Fernandes instead of Bergy at the start would've made a big difference agreed...p.s. you mean Brighton I think re: VH, but agree with your thoughts.
